PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

This position manages the development and execution of Business Excellence activities impacting the AIDD Sligo Site Operations. These programs have broad impact to the Site through a focus on driving continuous improvements to support increasing the Site Capacity to execute increasing volumes while assuring a cost-effective delivery.

Through matrix management of cross functional groups and individuals, the Incumbent is responsible for leading various teams, and providing program management. The incumbent is expected to develop, implement and manage the critical aspects of the programme or project such as scope, cost, time and resource.

This reports to Business Excellence & Portfolio Manager.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead for Shingo preparations on site. This requires strong engagement with all areas

  • Engagement with leadership teams to further embed OP Ex principles

  • Working with division BEx in aligning with best practices

  • Further improving employee engagement through use of champions and problem solving

  • Co-ordinate flow & pull improvement activities. This is a critical success factor for achieving shingo certification.

  • Capacity demand models

  • OEE improvement

  • Alignment of metrics across work centres and structured problem solving to address issues as they arise

  • Co-ordinate activities for candidates participating in division DMAIC programs

  • Develop OP Ex skills across the site across all levels

  • Develop pipeline of candidates for yellow, green and black belt training

  • Develop pipeline of people who will rotate into Business Excellence as part of overall career progression

  • Support rollout of site training linked with Continuous Improvements

  • Develop, track and communicate progress against programme milestones, deliverables and resource constraints.

  • Ensure any justified scope, budget or schedule changes are documented, analysed, appropriately approved and communicated.

  • Consistently support collaborative efforts and promote a cooperative team environment at all levels of the Site while maintaining a direct connection with Division Management.

  • Develop innovative approaches to programme management and have very keen foresight to anticipate activities and events that may cause delay in the Business Excellence program schedule and develop and implement a plan to prevent the delay from occurring.

  • Use foresight to anticipate roadblocks before they occur.

EDUCATION & COMPETENCIES:

A Third level qualification in Business / Science / Engineering/or Quality together with Manufacturing / Business / Improvement experience. This will provide the basic understanding of Business principles and analytical skills.

The following items describe the level of experience needed to qualify for this position:

  • Eight years post-graduate experience in Manufacturing, Supply Chain and/or Engineering with at least three years in a management role.

  • Good Business Knowledge with experience of working on cross functional activities

  • Leadership skills.

  • Strong communication & influencing skills.

This experience is necessary to ensure the skills; management expertise and problem-solving techniques have been acquired.

· Advanced leadership skills to build an effective team by providing clear direction and define priorities.

· Proven record in delivering results

· The ability to work co-operatively and effectively with others to establish and maintain good working relationships.

· Proven Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
