Purpose of the role:

The Indirect Procurement Categories cover vastly across HR Services, Fleet Management, Facility Management & Real Estate (FMRE), Legal, Professional & Consultancy Services, Travel, Digital & Technology (Information System, also known as Digital and Technology). This role is the Indirect Procurement Category lead for Professional Consultancy and Travel with APAC Category Excellence accountability and Greater China as the primary market ownership.

The Supply Chain and Procurement function is undergoing a period of transformation. Lean and efficient supply chains are more important than ever, with a focus on new data and technology, and strategic integration for decision making. The category is complex, with varying stakeholder needs, and engaging senior stakeholders (which includes Managing Directors, Human Resource Directors, Finance Directors, Legal Directors, Head of Function etc). The prime accountability for the role is to drive value through ensuring the commercial elements of spend and global / market strategy in this category are executed brilliantly with our partners/vendors. This role will lead sourcing decisions with key stakeholders and will support the maximisation of value as well as ROI, whilst minimising risk in assuring quality of delivery and performance.

We are seeking an experienced Indirect Procurement Manager to be part of our team in managing these exciting categories. We are looking for an independent self-started and strong performer to help deliver results for APAC. This position will report into Market Category Director – APAC Indirect Procurement (based in Singapore)

The core activities/deliverables of this role are:

  • Financial & Non-Financial reporting; reporting monthly BPM (Productivity) at senior leadership team level and coordination with Category leads

  • Implement Global Sourcing Strategy, Contract Management, Risk Management, Project Management, Sourcing, Benchmarking, Negotiation across various markets in APAC, operating with a strategic mindset and in collaboration with key stakeholders to ensure full alignment with global strategies.

  • APAC Category Strategy Development & execute APAC COE Implementation

  • Strong commercial acumen, understanding of the business, and judgement; creating value.

  • Sourcing Gate paper / Business case with business / budget owner, encompassed with total cost ownership with external benchmarking and ability to bring the outside in on the best practice.

  • Overseeing supplier performance management platform and interventions and able to lead supplier relationship management with strategic partners.

  • Jointly set objectives with stakeholders, undertake supplier business reviews to reflect achievements against established KPI’s, analyse performance and skill gaps, and actively manage continuous performance. Collaboratively identify development needs and action plans.

  • Demonstrating excellent business partnering to identify and unlock value by leading cross functional productivity forums

  • Leveraging market understanding for value-added procurement towards Diageo ambition as well as 2030 sustainability ambition

  • Risk management in ensuring adherence and full compliance to procurement process and governance in Diageo way of buying

  • Develop strong relationship with all Indirect stakeholders across region and global and collaboration model across the business as Market CoE and act as Procurement Point of Contact, Market coordination and leadership responsibilities to continuously improving ways of working and deliver opportunities.

  • Continuously driving simplification and transformation of COE Source structure with solid project, operational and change management capabilities to simplify and codify processes.

Complexity of the Role:

  • Working across a range of complex projects with multiple stakeholders with strategic thinking and at the same time, able to execute brilliantly

  • Multiple projects running at any one time requiring effective management of time and priorities.

  • Alcohol restrictions, duty barriers and legislations such as withholding taxes further complicate the procurement in local/global sourcing within/across regions.

  • Strong influencing and communication skills needed to bring stakeholders & suppliers on the journey to successful implementation of projects.

  • Ability to demonstrate different leadership style in a very diversified culture workspace.

Qualifications & Experience required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or equivalent qualification in Supply Chain Management with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Procurement, preferably in FMCG, with subject-matter expertise in Indirect Category.

  • Demonstrated performance in leading complex projects and teams, managing and negotiating with suppliers and experience developing and executing category and procurement strategies across APAC markets

  • Experience in Supplier Performance, Supplier Development and Category Management

  • Strong analytical and financial awareness including a comprehensive understanding of Annual Operating Plan requirements, financial KPIs & value drivers relevant to the categories in scope

  • Demonstrated track record influencing and managing senior stakeholders and budget holders, with exceptional communication skills: verbal, written and presentation with the ability to clearly communicate and articulate complex situations in simple terms to enable stakeholder engagement and buy-in.

  • Must have proven competency working across diverse teams with varied business goals in preparation for working across a matrix of internal and external stakeholders

  • Ability to prioritise and multitask to balance stakeholder needs. Ability to work in an agile, fast moving environment and ability to keep up with pace of change and prioritize according to business needs in a diverse culture environment

  • Resourceful & self-motivated. Proven track record of consistent performance and delivery.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skillset; experienced storyteller (verbal & presentations) to bring stakeholders and suppliers on the journey

  • Capability & experience in leading change and transformation in the organization

  • Strong analytical skills, including forensic understanding of the cost drivers to target and influence costs through end-to-end value.

  • Fluent in English and Chinese (written and verbal) and preferably with Japanese.
