The Vitamin Shoppe Accountant, Senior- Inventory in Secaucus, New Jersey


The Senior Inventory Accountant is responsible for reporting the organization’s finances to management, and offers suggestions about resource utilization, tax strategies, and assumptions underlying budget forecasts.


  • Analyze physical inventory results and work with store managers to resolve questions.

  • Physical inventory and cycle count preparation and analysis.

  • Post physical results to perpetual inventory system.

  • Maintain integrity of inventory ledgers, accounts and transactions.

  • Calculate inventory trend performance and ratios.

  • Conduct monthly account analysis of inventory and reserves.

  • Assist in margin reporting, financial analysis and budgeting.

  • Conduct monthly account analysis.

  • Partner with other departments to coordinate monthly close.

  • Generate and record journal entries.

  • Research discrepancies and account reconciliations.

  • Calculate trend performance on inventory.

  • Assist in financial analysis and budgeting.

  • Participate in preparation of monthly financial package and reports.

  • Financial audit preparation.

Other Functions: ( Incidental to the purpose or the job. These functions are performed infrequently, and have little consequences to other jobs if not performed).

  • Participate in ad hoc projects.



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent combination of experience and instruction,'

  • CPA preferred

Required Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of basic accounting concepts and procedures including account reconciliation.

Experience Required:

  • 4 - 6 years accounting experience

Skill and Ability:

  • Detail oriented

  • Financial analysis skills

  • Problem solving and analytical skills

  • Able to work in team environment

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Access
