The role of the Sr User Experience Designer on the Impacts team will contribute to REI’s mission to get more people outside, operate more sustainably, and protect and create access to outdoor places. You’ll contribute to initiatives that are of high strategic value to the co-op, across multiple touchpoints. The Senior UX Designer is a strong collaborator who leads a wide range of design activities across the lifecycle of a project, partnering with product managers, researchers, writers, developers, analysts and stakeholders. Able to articulate the rationale behind the design decisions, understand how to defend decisions, and negotiate with teams to deliver the best possible outcomes with impact. Will often work with non-designers and, as a result, are educating about and advocating for the practice of human-centered design, customer centricity, as well as designing product experiences. An integrator who keeps information flowing up, down, and across the organization. Models and acts in accordance with REI’s guiding values and mission. * Lead the UX design efforts for one or more critical products or strategic projects on digital platforms * Partner closely with team and fellow designers to deliver innovative user centered experiences * Create, maintain, and communicate user experience documentation such as competitive site analyses, scenarios, user flows, interaction notes, detailed wireframes and prototypes * Work closely with Engineers, Program/Product Management, Marketing Research, Analytics and other teams to develop user-centered features * Ensure maintenance of a cohesive user interface by contributing to a digital design system * Plan, and facilitate user research activities (interviews, usability testing, surveys, etc.) and report findings, recommendations, and next steps * Use quantitative and qualitative data to inform the creation of inclusive solutions for complex problems Bring your passion and expertise * 5+ years of experience in UX/UI design * Experience building and shipping features/products that encompass an end-to-end experience across a variety of platforms * A deep understanding of UX design tools, their capabilities, user research, and conducting usability studies. * A deep understanding of user-centered design methodologies, and best practices. * Experience leading product direction and strategic thinking while developing product goals, identifying opportunities, and making decisions based on the impact to people and the company * Experience representing work to a broader product team and other leaders, clearly and succinctly articulating the goals and concepts * A strong portfolio that demonstrates not only your stellar designs, but tells the story of your approach to problem-solving and your design process * Strong organization, attention to details and time-management skills * Ability to work independently and collaboratively * Bachelor’s degree in relevant field with outstanding academic performance preferred * Experience working in an agile organization, utilizing a product led approach preferred * Experience working with corporate stewardship preferred At REI we offer an enviable work environment that Fortune Magazine has recognized on the "100 Best Places to Work" list since the award's inception – 23 years in a row!
