JOB DESCRIPTION Job Number: 210356 Department: Pathology Office Hours: 12:00p - 8:30pIn thison siteMedical Transcription role you will work in Pathology to create and/or coordinate an accurate permanent record of documentation regarding patient medical treatment from provider dictation.Listen to technical medical dictation and transcribe and/or edit at an acceptable accuracy level in accordance with department standards.Listen to technical medical dictation and transcribe and/or edit at an acceptable production rate in accordance with department standards.Uses own discretion to independently trouble shoot work product issues and problems.May coordinate with assigned physicians or staff in Cancer Registry to assure correct patient materials are available for review at consultations or Tumor Board conferences.May perform miscellaneous office support activities, data entry, retrieval, route calls, visitors and answer questions.May prepare various written materials for physician use at conferences or for publication.May use own discretion to independently reprioritize work flow on a continuous basis.Participate in team activities and meetings.Located in Seattle, WA, Virginia Mason is an internationally recognized leader in the continuous improvement of health care. Expert knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, disease pathology and treatment techniques, surgery process and instrumentation, and pharmacology as well as the ability to interpret technical jargon and translate abbreviations into their expanded forms. Ability to locate unfamiliar terms, patient identifiers and referring doctor addresses using written and on-line reference tools.Ability to perform word processing quickly and accurately. Ability to operate as part of a team. Mental agility and technical skill may be necessary for combining and rearranging materials from different sources.Previous medical transcription training and experience is required.
