The Divisional Vice President, Supply Chain Operations will lead a world-class distribution network of omnichannel operations suppling retail stores and direct customer fulfilment for REI’s growing customer demand. As the co-op grows from a 20-million-member community to 50-million-members by 2030, this leader will operationalize omnichannel capabilities and grow the distribution network while driving adoption of micro fulfilment strategies serving the future needs of members. This leader will lead deployment of world-class technical capabilities developing the vision for the supply chain operations organization. This leader will drive operational efficiencies with strong emphasis on continuous improvement, fiscal planning, analytics, technology, as well as contribute to design and execution of strategic investments within the multi-DC network.

Reporting to the Vice President of Supply Chain, Bill Best, this leader will grow a team of 900 employees to roughly 1,200 with the network expansion and responsible for an OPEX budget of $70M+.

Essential Leadership Behaviors

The Divisional Vice President, Supply Chain Operations will:

  • Oversee training and development of employees directly and indirectly managed and makes effective staffing decisions.

  • Conduct and ensure the completion of performance reviews.

  • Establish and maintain visibility within the department.

  • Make effective organization and people decisions in a manner consistent with REI's values and ethics.

  • Monitor operational statistics, report trends, variances and issues, and take appropriate action.

Professional Qualifications and Experience

The following professional qualifications and experiences required by the future Divisional Vice President, Supply Chain Operations are imperative to the success of the candidate and the long-term success of the Co-op.

  • 10+ years of progressive experience leading distribution or supply chain operations including experience in a leadership role supporting technology and/or process improvement functions.

  • Implementation of world-class technology for distribution and/or warehouse operations for a digital forward multi-channel retailer.

  • Proven experience with implementing innovative solutions as well as successful change management and adoption practices.

  • Demonstrated experience of executive leadership, relationship and communication skills. Highly effective oral, written, presentation, organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • Proven experience establishing vision and goals; developing strategic and tactical plans; and leading cross-divisional teams in accomplishing key strategic initiatives.

  • Demonstrated people manager – builds capacity of individuals and teams through effective employee development, involvement, communication, and supervision efforts. Creates a strong, mutually supportive work spirit and culture where people can do their best.

  • Demonstrated team builder - builds a high-performing team that drives flawless execution and is accountable for results. Establishes trust and inspires others.

  • Makes effective organization and people decisions in a manner consistent with REI's values and ethics.

  • Undergraduate degree and MBA from a leading program are highly desirable.
