Facebook Director, Mission Control Programs in Seattle, Washington

Summary:

Mission Control is the organization that plans and shapes Facebook’s evolving workforce. The Programs team within Mission Control supports the TECH organization and sits within Engineering. Our programs include Onboarding (Bootcamp and Analytics Camp), continued technical development, and academic engagements.

This is an organizational leader opportunity for the Programs pillar within Mission Control. The Director will lead a team consisting of mainly program managers, but also content developers and designers to support our portfolio of programs. This position will work closely with peer managers in Mission Control as well as cross-functional teams. Teams include Learning & Development, HR, Recruiting, FB Research community, Engineering and Product and the Executives. This leader will be accountable to strategize, plan, and executive initiatives as it aligns with our broader Mission Control vision.

Required Skills:

  1. Manage a global team of 30+ with additional growth in 2021. Will immediately be supporting 4 direct managers

  2. Design and execute a programs mission which join 4 distinctive pods

  3. Onboarding, Learning Experiences, Specialized Development, and Academic Engagements

  4. Build a high performing team which includes hiring, onboarding, mentoring, developing and coaching for team members and managers

  5. Design and maintain scalable organization in an ambiguous and fast-paced environment

  6. Influence the strategic vision and direction of our programs

  7. Develop roadmap to align with company priorities, identifying gaps, risks and communicating progress and shifts to Engineering leadership and partners

  8. Manage biannual review cycle for direct reports, focusing on strengths based development and role alignment for team members

  9. Build strong partnerships and collaboration with peers and global business partners

  10. Ability to understand, collaborate and influence across cross-functional organizations

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelors Degree and 12+ years of program management experience

  2. 8+ years experience as a people manager and experience managing managers

  3. 5+ years of experience leading others in program management in growth environments

  4. Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and working autonomously in a fast-paced ambiguous environment

  5. Communication skills which influence technical and non-technical audiences across all levels of an organization

  6. Stakeholder management experience (HR, Recruiting, Engineering and Product and the Executives in those organizations)

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. 3+ years experience working internally (as opposed to consulting) in a medium to large organization (e.g., high-tech, financial services, healthcare, biotech, etc.)

  2. Understanding of large scale, strategic development programs, including technical content design, development, and implementation

  3. Successful track record in building strategies and solutions to meet conflicting customer needs

  4. Experience building scalable programs in hyper growth environments

  5. Learning and development background

  6. Experience in development of a global team
