Penn Foster Software Test Engineer in Scranton, Pennsylvania
The Test Engineer will be responsible for Requirements gathering, Quality Process reviews and verification / validation of development efforts within Penn Foster. The candidate will also be responsible for test planning, testing of system enhancements, new functionality, interface testing and ensuring service delivery meets or exceeds the customer expectations.
Essential Job Functions
Responsibilities include maintaining close working relationships with other team members to ensure quality software is delivered. Experience with test design, creation, execution, and reporting of both manual and automated test cases. Design Reviews in terms of Functionality, Testability, Performance, Scalability and Reliability. Demonstrated ability in Quality Assurance: test planning, automation, performance/load testing and troubleshooting. Provide advice and mentoring to junior members of the Quality team. Provide training on new and existing systems as needed to support operational activities. Troubleshoot end user reported problems or coordinate internal and/or external support if necessary. Develop training manuals, standard operating procedure, document reoccurring issues and communicate resolutions to end users. Administer user accounts for internal and customer facing software systems
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Bachelor?s Degree in a Computer Science or related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.
5+ years of directly related testing experience
Advanced knowledge of Application Lifecycle Management
Experience in the Following:
Experience with Agile Methodologies; Has or is currently working in an iterative or agile project environment
Test case preparation and execution along with test metrics experience
Test Summary reports / Test Planning experience
Testing web services
.Net/C++/C#/Java/Ruby will be a plus
Perform regression testing to verify and validate incorporated fixes to software
Test design, creation, execution, and reporting of both manual and automated test cases.
Strong working knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL, XML, Unix, Web Services, API?s
Front end and backend testing
Designing and developing custom test automation frameworks a plus
