About the position: This position will be assigned to the Human Resources Office at Schriever Air Force Base, Building 210, Room 217. The Human Resources Office is open from 7:30 to 4:40 Monday to Friday.
Provides recruitment and placement services to all NAF activities to include receiving requests to fill vacant positions, create announcements and vacancy, review applicants list and qualify them, prepare and review onboarding forms on USA Staffing. Create Applicant record on DCPDS and SETS. Create applicants and position on DCPDS. Conducts orientation for new employees on insurance benefits, unemployment compensation, social security benefits, retirement, and other programs applicable to NAF employees. Assists managers in providing instructions to NAF activities by procedurally processing a full range of personnel actions such as appointments, position and pay changes, transfers, and separations on the DCPDS system. Explains pay systems, differentials, hours of work, etc. Explains employee rights and responsibilities. Provides information to supervisors and employees on such matters as pay actions, health insurance, life insurance, and a wide variety of personnel actions. Answers inquiries concerning status of pending actions. Maintains official employee personnel records and files. Forwards timely and accurate copies of records for administrative and pay purposes to other offices as required. Computes rates of pay on all increases (pay adjustments and step increases) for employees in activities serviced to ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. Maintains controls of within-grade increases to ensure due dates are met. Prepares, in final form, the full range of personnel actions on DCPDS for the HRO's signature. Computes service computation dates. Input workers' compensation and unemployment compensation programs. Inputs personnel data into the automated NAF personnel data system and is responsible for the maintenance of the system. May be responsible for processing and tracking status of installation records checks, state criminal history repository checks, and national agency checks, also process hard copies of fingerprint cards to be send to OPM. May be responsible for processing security checks to include installation records checks, state criminal history repository checks, and national agency checks. Assist and review documents in order to request the Installation Records Check to the proper offices and record the results of the investigation in a timely matter. Establishes new record series as required and disposes of records according to records management directives. May update forms and publications and post updates to directives. May participate in planning and conducting the local NAF wage survey IA W regulatory guidance. Prepares Official Personnel Folders (OPFs), Medical Folder's and Supervisor folder for new incoming employees. Checks for presence of necessary documents, for completion of all necessary items in each document, and for arrangement of necessary documents in proper sequences. Provides specific items of information to NAF employees regarding personnel matters including, but not limited to, insurance, retirement, 401-K, and awards, found in commonly used regulations, instructions or manual. Applicant must have progressively responsible experience in substantive NAF personnel management and administration. Must be thoroughly familiar with the full range of NAF personnel policies and procedure. Must have knowledge of and skill in interpreting and applying regulations, policies, practices and procedures covering NAF Personnel Management program. Must posses basic computer skills and have knowledge of the automated NAF personnel data system. Must be familiar with personal computer applications such as Windows, MS Word, Excel, Access and the Internet. Ability to communicate with others effectively, both orally and in writing.
