Position Summary

Heath products within a Special Production context: small-batch production of products that require non-standard approaches to production, such as hand etching on the Heath+Alabama Chanin collection, and special trimming techniques on seasonal collection pieces. This role works closely with Design and Dinnerware Production departments. The role is based in Sausalito but may require occasional travel to San Francisco depending on project needs.


  • Reporting updates, issues, feedback and needs to the Dinnerware Production Manager and Senior Design Manager

  • Understanding Design Intent and finding ways to transition new products into special production.

  • Working collaboratively to explore and implement improvements to Special Production processes

  • Hands-on production of the hand-etched product line of the Alabama Chanin Collection, Heath Jewelry line, and other special production activities: trimming and other seasonal special techniques

  • When appropriate, assisting with creating product samples

  • Maintaining yields to Heath production standards

  • Time management with daily workflow

  • Over time, develop mastery on all Heath etching processes

  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment, following factory handbook guidelines, Lean 5S Principles

  • Awareness of and adherence to design integrity and QC standards

Qualifications and Experience

  • Background in Art/Illustration and/or prior experience in drawing patterns by hand in multiples, with consistency

  • Follows instructions consistently and accurately

  • Reliable and punctual

  • Pursues quality, improvement, and pride in craftsmanship

  • Eagerness to develop existing skills and learn new ones

  • Ability to self-pace work to hit production targets

Physical Requirements

  • Using equipment requiring high dexterity. Requires good near or distant vision. Requires distinguishing colors and/or depth perception to judge distances.

  • Other activities, including climbing, balancing, kneeling, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, repetitive motion, grasping, and feeling.

  • Intermittently sitting, standing, stooping. Requires repeated reaching by extending hand(s) and/or arm(s) in any direction.

  • Note that this job is in a dynamic factory environment, with proximity to large machinery, dust, and noise that comes with factory production.

Work Environment/ Hours / Compensation

This position is part-time, 12-16 hours per week/ 2 days per week, Monday- Friday. This is a non-exempt role that is on-site at our Sausalito Factory & Showroom. This role reports to the Dinnerware Production Manager. This position pays between $20 - $22 an hour based on experience.
