The Robotics & Digital Solutions group of Ethicon, part of the Johnson & Johnson family of companies, is recruiting for a Manager, Electrical Engineering, to work on the next high-tech surgical robotic platform. This position is located Santa Clara, CA.

As an Electrical Engineering Manager, you will lead a highly motivated and qualified team. You'll lead projects, mentor engineers, communicate within & across teams, and share your knowledge of electrical engineering design. You will be asked to be a technical leader. Candidates must be self-motivated, independent and have a desire to thrive in a very fast paced environment while having exceptional communication skills.
Core Job Responsibilities:
Lead an existing core team of highly qualified electrical engineers to execute on design of complex electro-mechanical systems from prototype through production
Technically contribute hands-on to design and debug efforts at the PCA and subsystem level where needed
Drive documentation, test and failure mode analysis necessary to release medical device products
Demonstrate through action best documentation and test practices to deliver safe and efficacious products
Solve blockers and drive through logistical hurdles that may emerge during design and development
Build and influence teams though strategic connections and partnerships across the company
Drive team success
Knowledge/Skills, Education, And Experience:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with 7+ years of experience OR master’s degree in electrical engineering with 5+ years of related experience required
Demonstrated experience leading and managing small teams
Experience in safety-critical applications with demonstrated experience in compliance and failure mode analysis
Ability to read schematics and perform complicated electrical debug using oscilloscopes, DMMs, multi-meters, TDRs, VNA, spectrum analyzer etc.
Ability to work efficiently and independently within a team. Demonstrate task ownership in multi-functional environment.
Demonstrated ability to work with internal teams and external consultants
Experience in PCA/PCB design, ideally in motor control and robotics applications
Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:
Experience with medical devices and testing electronics in safety-critical applications
PCB design experience of low-noise analog, power electronics, and motor control in robotics applications
Experience using Altium Designer
