Sutter Health Nurse Coord - Emp Health Serv in San Mateo, California

Position Overview:

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

This position is responsible for supporting the functions of the California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC) Employee Health Services (EHS) department. These functions include organization and facilitation of programs such as annual and routine surveillance, education for internal staff as well medical center and affiliate employees, and policy and procedure review and revision. This position functions under the direction of the Employee Health Services Regional Manager and Regional Medical Director.

Qualifications:

Education:

Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing

Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.

Formal education in the area of Employee Health/Occupational Medicine strongly preferred.

Registered Nurse licensed by the California Board of Registered Nursing

Current BLS per hospital policy and service line requirements

Certification in specialty of Occupational Health (COHN) is preferred.

Familiarity with Title 22 regulations as they relate to an acute care facility preferred

Experience:

Previous experience in Employee Health (EH) or Occupational Medicine (OM), preferably in healthcare.

Experience in performing activities related to EH/OM programs - vaccine clinic organization, respiratory fit testing- is strongly preferred.

Experience in program management in healthcare environment desired.

Knowledge:

Knowledge of Employee Health/Occupational Medicine concerns - Infectious Disease/Safety- in the workplace is essential.

Familiarity with OSHA and Workers’ Compensation laws, and Title 22 regulations as they relate to an acute care facility.

Proficient in the use of Excel and other data base systems. Familiarity with data manipulation and report generation.

License, certification, and/or registration:

Current and valid California RN license.

Current and valid BLS certification.

Certification in specialty of Occupational Health (COHN) is preferred.

Special Skills and/or Equipment Used:

Strong leadership skills are essential for this position as are customer service skills.

Flexibility and ability to travel within the area of CPMC and Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation (SPMF) – south division areas to support the EHS at each facility.

Strong organizational skills to work with and direct programs and participants in the Program as a whole.

Ability to define problems, collects and interprets data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

Excellent interpersonal skills in relating to and motivating people on many levels both in the employee health department as well as the medical center and external agencies - employees, managers, directors, physicians.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Demonstrates the ability to be assertive and to take charge in situations where guidelines are not being followed.

Skill in collecting and manipulating electronic data in order to monitor compliance and produce reports

other data systems.

This position may have access to protected health information on routine basis. The protected health information this position may access is demographic information, date of service information, Insurance/billing information and/or medical record summary information. This position requires this patient health information in order to perform the functions outlined as part of this position description.
