Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation is a not for profit corporation that exists to provide medical services, research and education. The foundation provides the infrastructure for the delivery of physician services, and contracts with a separate corporation comprised of physicians and other care providers to deliver the clinical services. This multi-specialty foundation will provide a platform from which new physicians can be recruited to continue to provide physician services in a nonprofit, community setting. The Foundation's vision is to create a medical group that will deliver high quality, market competitive medical services.
Responsible for providing basic and advanced Respiratory Care services to newborn, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.
Respiratory services include and are not limited to airway management, respiratory monitoring, special respiratory care procedures, respiratory emergencies, mechanical ventilation, pulmonary function testing, and pulmonary rehabilitation.
Initiates, monitors and assesses oxygen therapy and weaning protocols based on laboratory results, and physical signs and symptoms in accordance to department protocol.
•Performs aerosol therapies and airway clearance techniques in accordance to department protocol and the AARC Clinical Practice Guidelines. Performs airway management based on patient’s pulmonary status, clinical condition and department policy and procedure.
•Actively participates in respiratory emergency activities in accordance to department protocol.
•Maintains, monitors and assesses all artificial airways.
•Initiates, monitors and assesses newborn mechanical ventilation, high frequency ventilation, CPAP and weaning protocols based on laboratory results, and physical signs and symptoms, the AARC Clinical Practice Guidelines.
•Initiates, monitors and assesses pediatric mechanical ventilation, non-invasive ventilation, CPAP and weaning protocols based on laboratory results, pulmonary function and physical signs and symptoms, the AARC Clinical Practice Guidelines.
•Initiates, monitors and assesses adult mechanical ventilation, non-invasive ventilation, CPAP and weaning protocols based on laboratory results, pulmonary function and physical signs and symptoms, the AARC Clinical Practice Guidelines.
•Performs special respiratory care procedures such as, bronchoscopy, bedside pulmonary function testing, sleep studies, blood gas machine and specialty gas administration.
•Maintains equipment readiness, through cleaning and disinfecting, assembling. testing, and calibration in accordance to department policies and manufacturers guidelines.
Evaluates the need, monitors and implements respiratory care services in accordance to department protocol, including:
•The administration of pharmacologic agents, use of aerosol generators and airway training devices.
•Patient laboratory results such as, lung mechanics, expired gases, transcutaneous monitoring, and oximetry.
Actively involved with instructing and educating patients and their families regarding respiratory care procedures.
Actively involved with teaching medical and nursing staff respiratory care procedures.
Confers with physicians and nurses regarding patient care, education and planning.
Accurately and completely document patient care activities.
Accepts and performs Charge Therapist related duties and responsibilities as required.
Assist with training and orientation of new employees when requested by supervisor.
Associate's degree in Respiratory Care Technology required.
LICENSURES & CERTIFICATIONS:
Registered Respiratory Therapist - RRT required.
Respiratory Care Practitioner - RCP required.
Basic Life Support Certifcation - BLS required.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support - ACLS preferred.
Pediatric Advance Life Support - PALS required.
Neonatal Resuscitation Provider - NRP required.
One (1) year previous clinical experience in Respiratory Care required.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
Outstanding clinical, communication and interpersonal skills required.
Have the ability to work with minimal supervision.
