Facebook Product Policy Manager, AR/VR and Devices in San Francisco, California

Facebook is looking for an experienced policy manager for Augmented & Virtual Reality (AR/VR) products and for AI enabled devices. This candidate will join the Consumer and Developer Policy team to lead product policy for AR/VR and Devices. The Consumer and Developer Policy team's mission is to help Product and Operations teams create innovative approaches to product design and policy development.The ideal candidates will have experience working on policies that govern user generated content or Acceptable Behavior policy in AR/VR environments or Devices and/or experience designing or counseling on product design to support acceptable behavior, safety, privacy, and user choice.In this role, you'll help shape the company's product policy approach for our AR/VR products and Devices. You'll work closely and most often with policy leaders, product managers, engineers, and other cross-functional partners at the company to build trust and safety into the products and services that we're developing. You'll sometimes interact with academics and other stakeholders outside the company, and you will play a key role in influencing the development of standards and regulation for new technologies in our industry.The ideal candidate for this role is a confident leader, self-starter, a good team-player, and creative problem-solver that is able to switch easily between detailed, innovative policy solutions and high-level strategic thinking. Successful candidates will have experience in policy development, policy enforcement, or product management with a focus on user Trust and Safety issues. They will be able to provide insights that will contribute to the shaping of product policies and product development. You should be passionate about the services we provide and the people that we serve in all global markets.

Required Skills:

  1. Evaluate and provide policy guidance on new products and features

  2. Work with software developers, designers, lawyers, product managers, and others to help interdisciplinary teams address policy, legal, engineering, user interface, business, marketing and other privacy requirements

  3. Help Facebook regarding product policy issues, including in external meetings and at conferences

  4. Help articulate policy philosophy, launches, and changes to relevant parties, including management, operations, and other internal and external stakeholders

  5. Build out and manage a small team

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in public policy, legal, political science or related field

  2. 7+ years of work experience in public policy, policy enforcement, or product design with a focus on Trust and Safety issues

  3. Experience with data analytics and problem-solving

  4. Experience with consensus-building in a highly matrixed environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. JD, MPP, MBA, or technical degree

  2. Experience in Internet/social media/media content issues, AR/VR, or internet enabled devices

  3. Experience legislative frameworks

  4. Experience with messaging, telecommunications, gaming, or mobile applications
