Google Manager, Safe Browsing, Trust & Safety in San Francisco, California

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or related field or equivalent practical experience.

  • 4 years of experience in data analytics, in the context of abuse/fraud detection.

  • 2 years of people management, experience leading technical analysts.

Preferred qualifications:

  • MS degree in CS, Mathematics, Statistics, Analytics, or related technical discipline.

  • Prior experience with abuse and fraud detection, web security research, or risk management.

  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: querying and analyzing large datasets (e.g, SQL, MapReduce, Hadoop), malware analysis (YARA, reverse engineering), statistical analysis (e.g. R, Stata, SAS), and/or data-focused programming (e.g. Python, C/C++).

  • Proven ability to manage and develop employees to deliver results, while building a fun and engaging working environment.

  • Strong ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively

Trust & Safety team members are tasked with identifying and taking on the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of our products. They use technical know-how, excellent problem-solving skills, user insights, and proactive communication to protect users and our partners from abuse across Google products like Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. On this team, you're a big-picture thinker and strategic team-player with a passion for doing what’s right. You work globally and cross-functionally with Google engineers and product managers to identify and fight abuse and fraud cases at Google speed - with urgency. The mission of Trust & Safety - Safe Browsing is to make the world’s information safely accessible to all, and along with Safe Browsing Engineering we are responsible for protecting Internet users across the globe from phishing and malware. Safe Browsing systems provide defenses against these threats for Google products such as Gmail, Chrome, Search, and Ads. As part of Trust & Safety, we collaborate with abuse fighters across the company to identify and resolve the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of our products.

  • Lead a team of analysts working to identify harmful entities, identify opportunities for automation, and scale existing workflows.

  • Drive prioritization, alignment and implementation of abuse enforcement initiatives and help the team grow their skills and develop their careers.

  • Collaborate with and manage relationships with partner teams to achieve shared objectives, provide strategic insight and frontend execution.

  • Deliver industry leading fraud and abuse prevention solutions, measure impact and establish metrics for programs, comprehensive reporting and actionable insights on risks and controls.

  • Work as part of a global management team with regards to strategy, process improvement, people development and technology implementation.
