The environmental group has an excellent opportunity for a dynamic individual to join our exceptional team as a Regulatory Compliance Group Manager at any of our environmental facilities.
Position Summary and Responsibilities
Provide expertise to the Teledyne Environmental Engineering groups in the field of product Regulatory Compliance, for scientific field and laboratory instruments. Work requires a broad knowledge of and application of worldwide Regulatory Compliance laws and regulations pertaining to Electrical Safety, Electromagnetic Compatibility, Material Compliance Requirements (RoHS, REACH, Prop 65) and Hazardous Locations, for the development of and continued production of Teledyne Environmental products. This individual must be able to work with Product Development Engineering Teams at multiple Teledyne Environmental locations as well as offsite testing agencies such as, but not limited to, CSA, UL, DEMKO, SGS Baseefa, Intertek, TUV, NCEE and FM.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Serve as a technical specialist in the application of existing and new regulatory compliance laws worldwide.
Stay current on any changes to the regulatory compliance standards that impact the Teledyne Environmental group. Provide timely guidance to the Teledyne Environmental New Product Development Teams and Manufacturing Engineering groups on the impact of the changes to new and existing designs.
Provide the Teledyne Environmental New Product Development Teams and Manufacturing Engineering guidance for either pre-compliance testing or self-certifying tests to meet the product’s specifications.
Develop or coordinate trainers for short courses to disseminate expertise in the area of regulatory compliance design practices to help the Teledyne Environmental New Product Development Teams and Manufacturing Engineering build in compliance from the start of the project.
Serve as project manager for regulatory compliance contract activities, by working with contract testing labs to develop pricing and scheduling structures at the Teledyne Environmental level to insure best pricing, scheduling and project completion.
Monitor compliance costs and make recommendations to consolidate costs such as, combining certificates to reduce sustaining costs of site audits and consolidating advisory and testing services.
Assist the New Product Development Teams in the determination and documentation of what compliance standards need to be complied with to achieve the proposed sales plans. Advise the New Product Development Teams on how these standards will impact the product design.
Oversee all test lab quoting activities ensuring that Teledyne Environmental is receiving the correct pricing, scheduling and the proposed testing is adequate for meeting all proposed compliance standards to be achieved.
Assist in the management of regulatory compliance projects at offsite compliance testing agencies such as, but not limited to, CSA, UL, DEMKO, SGS Baseefa, Intertek, TUV, NCEE and FM.
Assist the Teledyne Environmental Business unit Engineering teams in the review of all new test reports for accuracy and completeness.
Participate on New Product development design review as needed to provide insight and advice on design choices as they pertain to regulatory compliance standards.
The ability to operate several pre-compliance instruments such as, but not limited to, a radio frequency (RF) emissions and susceptibility generator, Fast Transients generator, Electro-Static Discharge testing station, and Electro Magnetic Interference (emission and susceptibility) test equipment is preferred but not required.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree, B.S. from a four-year college or university with an emphasis in electronics plus 8 years of product design or product support experience related to regulatory compliance design issues, or the equivalent combination of education and regulatory compliance related experience. Proven Project Management experience is required.
Job Skills and Specifications
Proven leadership skills in a team environment. Must be able to use a Personal Computer with Microsoft Word and Excel software programs.
