Avantor, Inc. Lab Support Technician in San Diego, California

Job SummaryThe laboratory technician prepares and weighs samples for testing and analysis. May setup and conduct tests, assays, and other protocols under the direction of a laboratory services manager, researcher, or scientist. Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs). Ensure all laboratory equipment and work areas are clean, sterile, and in proper working order. May be responsible for calibration of instruments and also involved in media prep.

MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (List in order of importance)

  • Prepares samples for analysis including blanks and standards; data entry of sample log and preparation of sample submission tables.

  • Reports timely and accurate test results according to laboratory policies and procedures

  • Manages inventory, maintains , p ro c esses , and order s l a b or a t or y supplies including glassware, and chemicals for biotech/pharmaceutical processes.

  • Updates temptale logbook.

  • Maintains files, tracks orders, and processes shipping requests.

  • Tracks and documents chemical usage and inventory.

  • Glas s w as h an d r e s t o ck in g, c h e m i c a l r e pa ck in g , cy lind er d e l i ve r y an d pi c k up , m anagin g dr y i c e a n d liqui d ni t r o g en disp e ns i ng , an d w as te disp o sal.

  • Maintains clean room to prevent c o n t a m ina t i o n an d in te gri t y o f pr o du ct i o n.

  • O p e ra t es lab o r a t o r y e quip m e n t an d ins t ru m e n t s.

  • Calibrate balances and pH meters.

  • Clean and prepare dissolution baths and sonicators.

  • Conduct hardness tests, appearance tests, Karl Fischer tests and disintegration tests.

  • Label samples and set up trays for studies.

  • Inventory and label reference standards.

  • Inspect laboratory safety stations.

  • Other duties as assigned.
