Danaher Corporation Director, GSC DBS Leader in San Diego, California
POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Vice President of Global Supply Chain, the DBS Leader will be a key member of the GSC management team responsible for leading the integration of and strategy design/implementation of DBS in the department, to support Cepheid’s continued success in driving technology innovation and superior commercial execution across the globe. The incumbent will partner with the Global Supply Chain’s leadership team to develop and lead the DBS roadmap that will drive continuous performance improvements in supply chain , enabling achievement key initiatives, efficiencies, effectiveness, strategic plan priorities, and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) targets.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead and manage Global Supply Chain kaizen funnel
Drive targeted, sustainable improvement in QDCI (Quality, Delivery, Cost and Innovation) that is tied to AOP / strategic plan initiatives and Daily Management (DM) by leveraging DBS tools, consulting skills, and the change management process.
Assist departmental leadership in the development of a DBS Roadmap (i.e., how to use the DBS tools to drive sustainable improvement in results and grow its businesses).
Facilitate formal and informal DBS training and coaching to department DBSLs and other associates
Promote and facilitate diagnosis of workflow impediments and other wastes throughout the business and provide expert counsel on appropriate DBS tools to eliminate them.
Improve DBS training and facilitation skills by pursuing certification in DBS tools (CP process for self and others).
Provides leadership to managers and professional associates
TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES: (REQUIRED)

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Experience (in years):
Bachelor’s degree with 14+ years of experience or Master’s/Doctoral degree with 12+ years’ experience
4+ years managing people
Knowledge and skills:
Mastery of a variety of Fundamentals and Lean DBS tools
Ability to champion DBS and develop and install best practices across diverse business environments
Ability to work and influence all levels of the organization from Senior Leaders, Functional Leaders, to project managers and practitioners in all functional areas
Ability to accurately assess key business metrics and situations from a “general manager’s” point of view
Experience in Operations and lean manufacturing roles
Demonstrated proficiency in time and project management
Ability to implement DBS Fundamentals in a variety of situations
Proven process improvement and change management skills
Effective coaching and mentoring skills
Ability to provide dynamic, participant-centered training
Strong group facilitation skills, excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
Executive presence, ability to lead cross-functionally, present to C-level executives with easy and confidence
Familiarity with various manufacturing process technologies
Physical requirements/abilities:
Ability to work in an office environment
Ability to work in an engineering lab environment
Travel up to 50% to domestic and international locations
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
DBS Certified Practitioner (CP) in one or more Fundamentals or Lean tools
Ideally a minimum of Plant Manager / Director of Operations experience level or higher
Engineering or technical / science degree with experience in technology
Previous experience in contract manufacturing / service deployment
Experience in biological / technology manufacturing
Related experience in a diagnostic, medical device, or pharmaceutical environment.
