JMS Senior Living Maintenance Assistant in Saint Peters, Missouri

DescriptionPosition Summary:iAccepts and completes assignments as directed by the Environmental Services Director.Essential FunctionsAssists with the regular maintenance of all facilities on the property, outside grounds, landscaping, driveway and parking areas year-round to present a safe, clean, and attractive environment.Works with outside contractors and vendors, as directed.Assists with the inspection of all systems including HVAC, plumbing (including monitoring water temperatures), electrical, and mechanical as required by local, state and federal laws.Monitors, as directed, the working operation of sprinkler systems, fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, interior and exterior lighting, door locks and coded entries, and safety shower/eyewash stations.Orders and inventories maintenance supplies as directed.Assists in the maintenance, repairs and preventive upkeep of all equipment.Assists director in ensuring all vehicles used for transporting residents comply with all local, state and federal laws and regulations and are in safe operating condition at all times.Complies with the companyis employee safety prevention and accident reporting program.Participates in conducting fire drills and other safety drills.Attends all required training and meetings.Attends all required in-services as directed by the Administrator.Takes part in employee orientation as directed.Cooperates and problem-solves with other departments and staff, residents, families, vendors, and others to support the residentsi needs.Timely response and follow through on all communications.Protects the confidential nature of resident information and adheres to resident rights.Follows all company policies and procedures.Works extra hours when necessary and performs duties of other positions as needed.This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee. Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.NOTE: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.RequirementsQualificationsBasic understanding of building systems operations including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical.Demonstrated skills in painting, carpentry, and the proper care and storage of equipment.Able and willing to take direction from management.Dedicated interest in assisting a senior population.History of ethical and professional conduct.Proven success in participating within a team structure.Self-directed organizational skills that enhance the ability to manage numerous priorities.Ability to work under pressure and deal with stressful situations during busy periods.Reads, writes, speaks, and understands the English language.Ability to communicate effectively.Basic computer skills.Ability to work under pressure and deal with stressful situations during busy periods.Patience and acceptance of constant change in own work environment.Preferred Education or ExperienceHigh school diploma or GEDBuilding trades continuing educationHVAC certificateCurrent Class E Driveris license with understanding of and ability to operate and see to the maintenance of the company vehicle.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
