TEKsystems Entry Level Technical Support in Saint Paul, Minnesota


JOB TITLE: IT Operations Administrator

I. Job Summary:

This position will work as part of the operations center providing 24x7x365 monitoring and operational support. The Operations Administrators provide administrative support for such tasks as media handling, service desk calls, incident escalation, file restores and other duties as assigned.

Candidates will be expected to work non-core business hours and may be asked to work at different local locations.

II. Accountabilities:

  1. Performs operational support functions defined within the Work Order requests.

  2. Handle backup media including loading/unloading tape silos, tracking tapes for offsite storage, burning CDs and recording media movements.

  3. Perform All assigned Routine Repeatable Tasks that are well documented.

  4. Assist operators with escalation call outs.

  5. Shift for this role is M-F 4pm to Midnight with some shifting 2 hours earlier or later depending on coverage needs.

III. Job Requirements:

  1. Understanding of infrastructure used in a 24x7 production environment, such as servers, storage, network and data center elements is important to this role.

  2. Excellent recall of information with the ability to grasp technical concepts quickly, adapt well to change and deal effectively with emergency situations.

  3. Excellent communication skills between team members and management.

  4. Ability to learn new technologies

  5. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail a must as well as excellent interpersonal and time management skills required.

  6. Self Motivated

  7. Ability to work the assigned shift, including nights, weekends, holidays and on-call rotation as required.

Top Skills Details:

  1. General IT support experience (someone who has experience working in a shared data center model has worked great),

  2. Ability to follow directions and execute repeatable tasks,

  3. Driven personality and great communication skills

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

No Operator experience required. Looking for someone that maybe came from a shared data center experience. Would be open to more of the entry level IT person that is very detail oriented. Want someone who is able to grow their skill set in IT and is a real go-getter. communication is key as they will be taking direction and the next progression of the role has heavy customer interaction. Must be able to work the 4pm to midnight shift with some flexibility for coverage.
