TPT/Twin Cities Public Television Educational Engagement Specialist in Saint Paul, Minnesota
Description The Educational Engagement Specialist leads our TPT Learn STEM Academy initiative. This position, which is funded by grants from Cargill and 3M, will primarily oversee this project, including providing partner organization recruitment, professional development, activity implementation and general project support for Twin Cities-area informal educators, children and families at key afterschool/out-of-school community-based organizations. *Develops and implements educational programming in afterschool spaces, with a primary focus on STEM learning. *Using existing TPT STEM resources, develops and leads in-person and virtual professional development trainings and workshops for informal educators at participating partner organizations. *Using existing TPT STEM resources, assists and supports educators in implementation of STEM activities with children at participating partner organizations. *Acts as key contact for all TPT Learn STEM Academy partner organizations, and supports fundraising/development as needed. *Supports administrative processes like contract execution, credit cards and reimbursements. *Assists the wider TPT Learn teams in the various capacities needed for the success of department projects. *Provides occasional support to production teams and resource management for education-focused projects. *Other duties as assigned Required Experience *Minimum of 5+ years of non-profit and or/ a formal/informal educational program experience. *Advanced knowledge and experience in developing and facilitating culturally responsive programming for diverse audiences. Preferred Experience: * Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in education, communications or relevant field. *Sees diverse experiences and perspectives as the essential components of a successful educational initiative. *Familiarity with collaborative approaches *Research experience, including one or more of the following is also a plus: focus groups, interviews, quantitative data analysis, creative arts-based research, participatory action research, user experience research, community-based research. Knowledge, skills and abilities: *Able to adapt and tailor communication to meet audience needs, with bi/multilingual ability preferred (with an emphasis on Spanish, Hmong, Somali, Karen and English). *Strong organizational skills, demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, work independently, and the ability to meet deadlines for time sensitive assignments. *Fluent user of Microsoft Office (e.g. PowerPoint, Word, Excel) and Teams. *Exceptional relationship-building and communication skills. *Access to reliable transportation and ability to travel.
