Hours from other major metro's or minutes from a bustling downtown, serene parks and outdoors-join us in calling St. Louis home.The Technical Services group is responsible for the development of short to intermediate-term products, engineering processes, ingredient development and packaging solutions for the business. We provide technical support for ingredient and vendor activities in support of a procurement strategy and all of the manufacturing operations associated with the pet food business in the United States and Canada. We are seeking an Ingredient Specialist to join our team to provide technical support in the execution of Procurement Strategies and to provide factory support.As an Ingredient Specialist, you will be responsible for qualifying new raw materials, suppliers, and providing technical support of existing suppliers. You will help with identifying and leading performance, ingredient-related, and quality improvement projects. Across all elements of the role, you will have the opportunity to work on fast-paced, multi-functional teams focused on getting new ingredients and new vendors in support of Nestle Purina strategies and providing technical support to Nestle Purina factories.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:Manage the development and implementation of new and existing ingredients to support existing and new products.Participate in the management of product specification systems with the appropriate nutritional, regulatory, and analytical requirements. This includes issuing to a manufacturing plant and maintaining as needed.Participate in the qualification of new raw materials and/or suppliers and act as ingredient lead for all assigned ingredients and raw materials. This includes an understanding of raw material and manufacturing processes and their impact on Nestle Purina finished products.Acts as a technical resource for Procurement to develop a robust pipeline of ingredient development opportunities, including developing ingredient project plans and timelines for all assigned projects.Provide technical expertise for internal groups including RandD, Legal, Regulatory, Consumer Marketing, Purchasing, QA, HR, Factories, and US Management as it relates to business objectives.Collaboratively and proactively keep management and key team project members apprised of issues, risks, timing, and contingencies relevant to technical and business success.Proactively monitor and provide ingredient maintenance for assigned ingredient portfolio responsibilities requiring standardized scientific procedures.Work closely with Factories and Quality to establish new ingredient and ingredient process specifications.Approximately 40% travel required.
