JMS Senior Living Food Service Director in Saint Joseph, Missouri

DescriptionPosition Summary:iEnsures the establishment and efficient operations of Food and Nutrition Services to ensure the highest quality of menu options, meal quality, safe food preparation and storage, and enforcement of required sanitary guidelines. Manages overall food service administrative duties that include resource allocation, full food service operations, dining room management, staff training, budgetary soundness and regulatory compliance. Delivers a quality and creative restaurant-style dining experience to all residents and guests within corporate guidelines.Essential FunctionsManages Food and Nutrition Services business operations and budget to effectively maintain high quality meal delivery in support of corporate goals.Gains understanding of resident needs by interacting with residents and participating within the Interdisciplinary Team.Collaborates with Registered Dietitian to ensure residentsi dietary needs are met; keeps staff informed of necessary information on dietary needs.Contributes necessary assessment and resident information to ensure a quality care plan for each resident upon admission.Completes dietary assessments and documents records per company policy.Addresses dietary complaints or concerns of residents brought to the attention of staff.Implements rotating or seasonal menus to offer an appetizing and appealing dining experience for residents.Assures that foods are prepared per production schedules, approved menus, and standardized recipes.Regularly inspects food preparation and prepared meals onsite to confirm quality standards being consistently met.Develops food storage and rotation program to prevent spoilage.Creates and manages inventory system for tracking levels of food, supplies and equipment inventory to avoid any shortages or system failures.Orders products, approves invoices, and works with vendors and suppliers to maximize product and services purchases.Actively implements the current Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Food Code as it applies to institutional food service.Has knowledge of chemicals used in a food service environment and sees to the safe and proper handling, storage and usage of same.Sees to the continuous and effective training of all food service staff to ensure best food industry methods for personal safety, personal hygiene, sanitary handling of food and equipment, and the highest level of safety and sanitation for the overall kitchen and dining premises.Maintains and documents both routine and deep cleaning schedules for the kitchen.Completes daily rounds to supervise employees within your department.Manages the departmental human resources function including daily staffing requirements, resolving performance issues including terminations, employee orientation on all new hires, documenting employee personnel files, and managing overtime.Effectively delegates tasks to department staff.Provides training and leadership by example in protecting the confidential nature of resident information and adherence to resident rights.Cooperates and problem-solves with other departments and staff, residents, vendors, and others to support overall team and corporate goals.Attends all required training and meetings including QAPI meetings to present and submit report as required.Attends all required in-services as directed by the Administrator.Ensures compliance with federal, state, local and company health, safety, and sanitation standards.Complies with the companyis employee safety prevention and accident reporting program.Participates in conducting fire drills and other safety drills.Timely response and follow through on all communications.Follows all company policies and procedures.Wears professional attire daily, which includes department uniform.Serves as relief or temporary replacement for any department position on short notice.Works flexible and uncertain work hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.Maintains comprehensive knowled
