Sutter Health Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Sutter Health Plus in Sacramento, California
The Sutter Health Plus (SHP) CEO will bring visionary product leadership to the SHP portfolio, contribute to the overall success of the Health Plan Partnerships and Products (HP3) team and be an effective partner within the Sutter Health family. This individual will be expected to further develop and implement the company’s SHP business strategy, establishing SHP as a strong brand in the marketplace achieving excellence in clinical, financial and operation performance in a compliant manner. The position is accountable to the HP3 CEO, SHP board and DMHC.
This individual will be responsible for developing the SHP business plan with the HP3 CEO. The SHP CEO defines the value proposition for prospective customers, builds products and services aligned with that vision, and executes on the business plan. This individual will provide the leadership to enable the organization to execute on SHP products and growth strategies.
The SHP CEO will assemble a matrixed management team (see below) focusing on supporting SHP in the context of a larger portfolio of HP3 products and services. He/she will communicate effectively throughout the organization, ensuring the deliverables of the product are clear, understood and met in a timely and compliant manner. This is a critical leadership role that must balance the needs of an assertive business plan, while striving to build long-term value.
A bachelor’s degree in business, finance, healthcare administration, or a related field is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
Minimum five years senior leadership experience in a health insurance plan including finance, sales and operations.
Experience in commercial and government sponsored ACA plans including small group, large group and individual products.
Ideally, a background working in a provider-owned or hospital-sponsored health plan setting.
California HMO experience are a plus.
An understanding of the operation, sales, network, finance and regulatory responsibilities of government sponsored commercial healthcare products.
Comprehensive understanding of relevant state and federal rules and regulations.
Ability to demonstrate success through developing and leading leadership and staff through influence as well as control.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
