Oversees the approved quality and health management initiatives across the enterprise and ensures clinical and fiscal improvements are achieved and regulatory requirements are met. Develops, implements, and monitors the facility-wide quality, performance improvement programs, and oversees the infection control program. Also functions as patient safety officer.
*Demonstrates project management skills, tools and techniques to develop work plans, tasks, timelines, and measurements for all health management project activities.
*Directs continuous quality improvement processes for improving safety, quality of care and health outcomes for the organization. This coordination will be across PHS and will involve working across departments and business units. Excellent communication and facilitation skills are keys to success.
*Demonstrates and applies Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) principles and lean tools.
*Serves as a resource/educator regarding CQI theory and practice. Is able to create and implement CQI education lesson plans for use in training organization staff, providers, and members.
*Promotes PHS system-wide strategies and compliance with PHS policies and standards, adopted accreditation standards and corporate compliance.
*Serves as a link to the Quality Institute, to optimize the success of health management activities using input and resources and at the same time ensuring appropriate use of resources without duplication.
*Directs and supervises health management activities in a professional format. Presents data to the appropriate internal or external committees or boards. Uses excellent data analysis skills in this regard.
*Serves as a communication link to those external local or state agencies or organizations that are interested in collaborative efforts with PHS in health management.
*Uses Microsoft Project, Minitab, QNET, Press-Ganey, MIDAS, and related office and business applications in support of all above activities.
*Participates in JCAHO, CMS, & other regulatory agency compliance and preparedness.
*Oversees the Patient Complaint Program
*Receives and evaluates summaries of deficiencies.
*Participates in and maintains documents of semiannual surveys of all areas of facility as determined by regulatory agencies.
*Responsible for assuring current policies and procedures are in place to govern the quality and risk programs.
*Oversees departmental operating budget, revenue and expenditures, according to current policy/approved budget; analyzes and reports fiscal activity, makes recommendation and/or takes appropriate action to reduce the cost of providing services.
*Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, current literature and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends.
RN Required with Bachelors degree in Nursing preferred. Three years experience in clinical nursing or related field required with Three years quality experience preferred. Project management skills, team leading and facilitation skills required. Knowledge of PC software skills in word processing, spreadsheets, relational database, statistical process control applications, decision support systems, comparative and benchmarking skills, Visio, Power Point, Microsoft Project Manager skills preferred. Must be competent in Midas and Patient Advocate.
