The Role

Assist in the collection of past due balances in a fast-paced Collections Department. Follow established policies and procedures that govern the credit and collection activities of the company. This person will report to the Sr Manager, Collections.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Handle high-volume collection calls and/or correspondence in a fast-paced goal-oriented collections department

  • Provides customer service and escalates collection issues to Collections Analyst, process customer refunds, resolve client discrepancies (including penalties disputes), short payments and small write off

  • Responsible for monitoring and maintaining assigned accounts

  • Assist with Dunning process

  • Maintain notes of collection activities in Peoplesoft

  • Maintain supporting documentation

  • Responsible for meeting/exceeding collections process metrics ensuring high level of on-time payments and professional customer interaction

  • Contribute to reduction in Aged Receivables and maintenance over DSO under 30 days

  • Assist with Default letter preparation

  • Assist Cash Applications Team on proper application of payments as requested or as seen during daily workflow

  • Coordinate with relevant groups - billing, sales, legal, accounting, etc. to resolve customer queries/disputes etc.

  • Coordinate with team members to resolve collections issues

  • Contribute to reduction in Aged Receivables and maintenance over DSO under 30 days

  • Perform all administrative duties related to ensuring department efficiency

  • Perform other related duties as assigned/requires


  • HS diploma or GED required, Associate's degree or certification and/or 1-3 years work experience preferred

  • Knowledge of Billing and Collections procedures a plus

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong attention to detail, goal oriented

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities

  • Proficiency with standard office software packages
