Thermo Fisher Scientific Quality Chemist I in Rockford, Illinois

Position Summary:

To participate in the production of quality biochemicals from raw materials to approved finished goods. To maintain a safe, clean working environment in accordance with the standards of good manufacturing practices, ISO 9001, and OSHA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform laboratory operations and complete documentation associated with raw material, bulk compound ulation, intermediate and finished good testing.

  • Calibration of specified laboratory equipment/instruments

  • Train new ASL associates on procedures and techniques

  • Improve processes as necessary with emphasis on safety, product quality and cost savings

  • Oversee the acquisition, storage, handling, inventory and disposal of supply chemicals in accordance with company policies

  • Organize, standardize and maintain records associated with production operations in accordance with company policies

  • Maintain an audit-ready working environment at all times Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Minimum B.S. degree in chemistry, biochemistry or related science, with 2 years experience

  • Position requires the ability to work independently, to be detail-oriented and accurate

  • Must be able to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Effectively communicate with company associates

  • Working knowledge of common analytical techniques utilized in chemical and/or biochemical manufacturing (Liquid chromatography (HPLC), gas chromatography, nuclear magnetic resonance, Infrared spectroscopy, Western blotting, ELISA, enzyme assays)
