Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is located at Rock Island Arsenal, Rock Island, IL. This is an obligated position. Responsibilities Assists providers in direct physical examinations, minor procedures, emergency care to include Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and other clinical duties. Screens adult employee/personnel, youth volunteers and others to obtain and review medical and occupational health histories. Reviews normal/abnormal test results and makes referrals to appropriate sources of care. Receiving telephone calls to schedule appointments for patients. Perform routine procedures, such as: phlebotomy collection, Electrocardiograms (EKG), Pulmonary Function Tests (PFT). Support the occupational hearing conservation program (i.e. perform routine diagnostic hearing tests, conducts training, maintains equipment, etc.). Assists Industrial Hygiene (IH) in identifying workplace operation and surveillance for potential high-risk industrial and non-industrial environments. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications This is a term position NTE 366 days. Term appointments may be extended up to a maximum of eight years. This appointment may be made permanent without further competition as long as the following conditions have been met: Employee has completed at least 2 years of current continuous service under a term appointment in the competitive service; Employee's performance under such term appointment was at least fully successful. Basic Requirements: Experience performing support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. AND Experience Required: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled such as: Taking patient vitals, such as: blood pressure, pulse, respirations, temperature, height and weight; utilizing office automation equipment to document test results; conducting site visits to review occupational hazards; and maintaining medical records/charts to ensure compliance with medical facility standards. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
