We are excited to announce we are adding a fulltime team member to our Employee Health Team!
This RN functions as a member of the HR department, with responsibilities in the areas of pandemic related matters, pre-employment and annual health assessments of volunteers and employees, education, health promotion programs and assisting in meeting all state and federal regulations that impact on Episcopal SeniorLife Communities employees and volunteers.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Performs pre-employment health assessments, plants PPDs, using the computer, schedules drug screens and if needed, titers. Is required collaborate with other HR team members re the status of the new hire medical clearance status.
Performs annual employee health assessments, referring problems to appropriate medical personnel within 30 days of annual start date.
Oversight and management of the Employee Influenza Administration; tracking and reporting to NYS Department of Health for all regulated sites.
Assesses individual employee health status as the need arises (in conjunction with nurse practitioner when indicated).
Works with third party vendor(s) to manage STD and Worker’s Comp coinciding with FMLA and/or PFL. Oversee and follow up with workers’ compensation and disability personnel to assess employee status and health condition as needed.
Advocates and encourages preventative health care programs through employee education and follow up. Proactively reinforce and teach various health promotion strategies (i.e. self-breast exam, diet and exercise principles, etc.) to employees/volunteers.
Serves as a member of the Safety Committee, and as leader of the Wellness Committee.
Updates employee immunizations and initiate mandated vaccines as per state/federal guidelines on an annual and as needed basis.
Makes appropriate community resource(s) referrals to employee(s) as needed to facilitate ongoing medical care/maintenance of employee health as needed.
Provides first aid, as necessary, to employees and volunteers.
In collaboration with the Volunteer Coordinator, schedules volunteer health screenings and maintains volunteer health files per requirements. Reviews the volunteer health assessment form.
Initiates mandated vaccines as per state/federal guidelines to volunteers.
Maintains supplies and forms and associated budget pertinent to employee health function.
Promote staff/volunteer retention through assessment, intervention, evaluation and follow-up of employee health and well-being in a caring, supportive and confidential manner.
Other duties and projects as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to perform comprehensive physical exams and document accordingly.
Ability to communicate effectively. Knowledge of basic personnel policies and state/federal guidelines. Ability to interact courteously and tactfully with staff, residents, family members, visitors, vendors and the general public.
EDUCATION: Current RN licensure in New York State.
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of 3 years’ experience in employee health or occupational health is preferred.
