Summary
The Construction Materials Testing Technician performs material testing services at commercial construction sites.
Responsibilities and Duties
Test construction materials such as soils, concrete, and hot mix asphalt for quality control/quality assurance on construction sites
Complete each testing assignment accurately and in accordance with appropriate standards
Have appropriate equipment, tools, and expendables to complete each assignment
Record and report test results in a clear, concise manner
Read construction drawings and specifications and correctly interpret test results
Turn in field data records and completed reports for each project
Communicate regularly with direct supervisor to provide updates on project details
Learn and listen to Field Supervisors/Special Inspectors/ Engineers for continuing education and preparation for additional certifications
Assist in our laboratory as needed
Qualifications and Skills
Currently have or working towards associate degree or bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering/Technology or related
Not necessary, although desirable Certifications for this position are: American Concrete Institute (ACI) Grade 1, Nuclear Density Gauge, International Code Council (ICC) Special Inspector categories: Reinforced Concrete, Soils, NETCCP Soils & Aggregate
Possess ability to maintain effective working relationships with managers, co-workers and clients through clear communication and proactive progress reporting
Familiarity with construction materials, procedures, and documents a plus
Must possess and maintain a valid drivers license
