SUMMARY * The Manufacturing Engineer develops and implements optimal, cost effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. * Recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods and controls. * Coordinates manufacturing launch for new or revised products. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Performs, research design and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment * Prepares and maintains detailed layouts of buildings and equipment * Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, training team members and evaluating results * Designs, implements and tests/sources and cost justifies various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods * Performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement and improved efficiency * Represents manufacturing on cross functional teams QUALIFICATIONS * Planning: an ability to think ahead and plan over a 3-6 month time span * Management; the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities * Technical skills in manufacturing processes and methods including layout, assembly and production equipment * Product development experience * Quality orientation and attention to detail * Problem analysis and problem resolution * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills * Strong team player * Ability to solve complex problems and a variety of changing needs under stress * Solid decision making skills EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE * Bachelor degree or equivalent experience preferred. * Computer assisted design proficiency. * Computer proficiency. * The military equivalent will be recognized in lieu of education and/or experience. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS * Basic mathematical skills, addition, subtraction, multiplication and converting fractions into decimals. * Must be able to use and read a tape measure, caliper, and micrometer, dial bore gauge, and various other precision measurement equipment.
