Student Systems Developer

Position Information

UC Riverside Information Technology Solutions (ITS) is searching for a Student Systems Developer. The successful candidate in this role will have the opportunity to be involved in developing new product / services, applications and integration for Student Systems that bring together interdependent systems across our portfolio. If you have a desire to design and create new solutions and be a part of improving UCR’s student experience by partnering with students, faculty, and staff to deliver integrated reporting and student technology solutions that are simple, innovative, and scalable then this position is for you! The salary offer will be commensurate with experience within the budgeted range of $75,000 – $98,000. This position is classified as 100% remote and will work from home full-time. Working hours will be based on Pacific Standard Time (PST).

Degree Requirement

Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Required


Experience Requirement

Demonstrated experience developing for cloud-based platforms including Microsoft Azure and Amazon AWS Preferred

Experience using an advanced queueing tool or environment such as RabbitMQ or Oracle Advanced Queueing. Preferred

4 - 7 years of related experience. Required

Minimum of 1 year experience with modern web applications MVC frameworks (.NET, Spring Boot, Grails, etc.) Preferred

Proven experience with .NET, C#, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Web API, CSS3, HTML5, and JQuery Required

Knowledge of Ellucian Banner and/or other Ellucian products. Preferred

Must actively participate in an on-call rotation supporting a 24/7 IT operation Required

Minimum Requirements

Experience with planning for deployment and creation of feedback mechanisms.

Demonstrated ability to contribute technical narrative to grant proposals.

Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.

Thorough experience with common programming tools. Demonstrated ability to follow software specifications.

Demonstrated ability to interface with management on a regular basis.

Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Advanced skills associated with software design, modification, implementation and deployment, including object-oriented programming concepts.

Thorough experience with identification and use of code libraries and open-source forums.

Intermediate knowledge of secure software development.

Demonstrated ability to understand functional needs and how systems can support those needs. Demonstrated ability to develop conversion and system implementation plans.

Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines.

Demonstrated software repository skills. Demonstrated testing and test planning skills.

Demonstrated broad problem solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Working knowledge of Grails / Angular development environments

Current working knowledge of other Ellucian products such as Degree Works, Analytics, and Banner ODS.

Current working knowledge of the Ellucian Banner Student Information System.

Working knowledge of front-end SPA frameworks (Angular, React, Vue).

Working knowledge of PL/SQL.

Working knowledge of GitHub.
