About the Opportunity Rapid changes in digital technologies and the financial industry impact the Fed and its mission in multiple areas, including economic research and policy, the viability and quality of services provided to financial institutions, and supervision of financial institutions. Reporting to the Federal Reserve System Chief Information Officer (CIO), the Chief Innovation Officer (CINO) will pioneer the Federal Reserve System’s digital innovation strategy. This role will be responsible for identifying, researching, enabling and evangelizing for innovative new technologies while fostering a culture of technical innovation, encouraging System-wide collaboration and experimentation.
A visionary leader and agent of change, the CINO will stay abreast of technology industry and market trends to understand their impact on the Federal Reserve System and serve as an advocate to help senior business leaders appreciate the opportunities and pitfalls of emerging technologies and methodologies. * *What You Will Do * Champion innovation by promoting ideas, selecting technologies to investigate, and experimenting or prototyping in coordination with System stakeholders. * Serve as an advisor and subject matter expert to senior stakeholders within the Federal Reserve System on emerging trends and their impact to the System & its Central Bank mission and functions. * Provide leadership and guidance to a team of innovators, technologists and strategists who are skilled at coordinating innovation efforts across the System. * Establish and maintain connections with key financial sector and IT innovators to promote internal technology innovation and policy deliberations. * Build a secure technology environment to explore and experiment with selected emerging technologies, develop prototypes and test for applicability to meet Federal Reserve business needs. * Ensure governance, coordination and sharing of technology innovation within the Federal Reserve System efficiently and effectively.
Qualifications * Seven (7) to ten (10) years of executive leadership experience with extensive knowledge of and passion for emerging digital technologies and their applicability to financial services. * Demonstrated record of strong performance as a visionary and strategist who can foresee opportunities and mobilize internal and external resources. * Ability to communicate, coordinate, and engage a diverse group of technologists and business professionals to create an environment of openness, sharing and experimentation. * Proven ability to build relationships with industry leaders and keep pace with market trends. * Record of results as a persuasive senior executive, the ability to manage by influence, and a leadership style that builds strong relationships, generates support, facilitates teamwork with business leaders, and achieves broad-based cooperation and participation. * Resourceful, flexible, and a critical thinker with strong problem-solving skills. Able to develop, motivate, and lead cross-functional and federated teams through difficult change. * High level of personal integrity, the courage of their convictions, and a commitment to public service with a personal and professional value system consistent with the culture and values of the Federal Reserve System. * Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with the appropriate level of judgment, discretion, and maturity.
