Lead Drainage Engineer – Transportation Infrastructure

We are looking for a Technical Leader, for our Drainage practice . In this role, you will lead a team of professionals overseeing drainage and hydrology components of large-scale transportation projects in Texas. We have a great history of success with the TxDOT , experience delivering billion-dollar Design/build projects and a stable project backlog.

Responsibilities :

  • In this role, you will act as the primary interface with internal design teams and take the lead for all Drainage/Hydrology aspects of major Transportation projects with the clients and our JV partners on both conventional and design/build projects in Texas.

  • You will be a key member of our Road/Highway Practice to assist in executing these projects across the state and help us identify new opportunities to expand our Drainage practice.

  • Projects may include hydrologic analysis, inlet design, storm sewer design, ditch and channel design, cross drain design, retention/detention basin design, water quality analysis, adequate outfall design and design of on and off-site drainage facilities.

  • As a leader, you must be able to demonstrate excellent design expertise in these areas, as well as mentor and lead engineers in the preparation plan documents and reports, such as storm-water plans and permit applications for highway projects, drainage criteria documentation, drainage design reports, and pond siting reports

  • You will be responsible for overseeing the civil design team’s technical deliverables and meeting project schedules from design through construction. Using your technical expertise, you will ensure the highest quality of engineering is put forth to meet all design criteria requirements.

  • Our Lead Project Engineers/Managers are heavily involved in identifying new business and participate in the proposal and capture process, and then stay technically hands-on throughout the life of the project, managing the project through final execution. We expect you to identify new opportunities with your current contacts in the region and help grow the business in this region.


  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or related field)12+ years or more of related work experience in Drainage/Hydrology design, including project management or supervisory/managerial experience of engineers, and designers.

  • Interest and the ability to function as a “seller/doer” capacity

  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration is required.

  • Experience directing work involving complex technical situations

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills

  • Experience with TxDOT clients is required .
