IBM Engineering Lead - IBM Research Digital in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina
Introduction
We are seeking a motivated software engineer to join our team of researchers, developers, designers, and writers crafting an end-to-end experience for IBM Research.
Your work will be critical in connecting external audiences and users to the innovative research of IBM. This role will participate in and oversee the execution of a wide range of digital projects for the IBM Research digital presence from conception to launch.
This role is based in the New York City area or Cambridge, MA with opportunities for remote work.
Your Role and Responsibilities
The IBM Research Brand Experience Design organization creates a quality, differentiated, end-to-end experience for IBM Research. The team crafts every experience and encounter, internally and externally, and our work crosses nearly every category of output: research and strategy, communications, content development, symbology and systems, web experiences, tools and training, and physical spaces. Many of these experiences are centered around our digital presence. This is your domain.
You have:
Strong software engineering fundamentals
Solid instincts for usability, UX and design
The ability to learn quickly and adapt to different technologies
The ability to share knowledge actively with your colleagues
Stellar communication skills
Your responsibilities will include:
Develop the external-facing IBM Research digital presence
Create, execute, and manage project plans for the delivery of web projects and applications
Work with multidisciplinary teams (development, design, analytics, PR, marketing, researchers, etc.) to create digital experiences
Develop digital experiences that help showcase cutting edge technologies for external audiences / users
Implementation, integration, and management of a CMS platform
Diagnose and fix bugs and performance issues
Contribute to and leverage IBM's open-source community for web development
Develop and leverage REST APIs
Build pixel-perfect UIs across desktop and mobile platforms through collaboration with cross-functional teams (design, UX, research, and web strategy)
Mentor junior developers in support of the IBM Research website (ability to train and delegate routine webpage updates)
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
At least 4 years of experience programming in React
Experience using NextJS framework
Experience with REST APIs, Git and GitHub, HTML, CSS, JavaScript
Experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
At least 3 years experience with people management
Experience developing external facing enterprise websites with React
Experience with Strapi development
Experience managing third-party contractors
