Flooid Limited Head of Quality Engineering in Remote, United Kingdom

Flooid are now recruiting for a Head of Quality Engineering to support our teams.

As Head of Quality Engineering you will be the strategic leader of our approach to both Quality Engineering and Quality Automation, including leading the transformation necessary to drive an increase in the adoption of automation test coverage.

Working as a Head of Quality you will take ownership of all quality related functions with an emphasis on product quality and reliability, on our both our core product features and project specific solutions.

You will be responsible for line/career management for the members of your team and ensuring our people are in the right place to further their careers and deliver on our client commitments.

The role is responsible for leading our approach to Quality Engineering (QE) and Quality Assurance (QA) across our internal Product Development area and also our client facing project teams.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Setting the strategy for both QE and QA to support the Product and Project sides of our global business

  • Leading the QA/QE Guild as to help develop our people

  • The point of escalation to Product and Project for risks/issues related to QE & QA deliverables

  • Reporting on Metrics and KPIs to show the growth of test coverage across the organisation, in respect of test automation and an overall improvement in the quality of our releases

  • Owner of the testing laboratories and test kit used in the delivery of Project and Product.

To be successful as Head of Quality Engineering we are looking for a leader that has led teams in Quality Engineering and Quality Assurance.

We are looking for experiece of:

  • Time spent as a Quality Engineer writing code to automate QA tests

  • Experience of pair programming with software (feature development) engineers to drive quality outcomes

  • Involvement in Story elaboration and estimation to inject quality from the outset

  • Leading Quality Engineers within a teams.

  • Test Planning & Management

  • Functional and Non-Functional testing exposure

  • Working in test phases from unit testing to go-live (full life cycle)

The tools that we’re seeking experience of working with are:

  • Zephyr – JIRA Integration

  • JIRA

  • Confluence

  • Fisheye

  • Windows & Linux Environments

  • Oracle VirtualBox

  • Cucumber

  • Gatling

  • JMeter

  • Concordion

Within the QE space we’re looking for experience with these development languages:

  • Experience of writing Java based automation

  • Knowledge of Scala to support Gatling

  • JavaScript

  • Bespoke internal tool AutoVera supporting Point of Sale, this encompasses:

  • XML

  • SQL

  • Assertions

  • Selenium Webdriver API

  • Gherkin Syntax

  • Jasmine

  • JavaScript

  • We use the IntelliJ IDE for the creation of automation code and are in the process of migrating from Mercurial to Git

The testing techniques, methodologies and process that we favour are:

  • TDD – this is the domain of the software engineers

  • BDD – Behaviour Driven Development

  • DDD – Domain Driven Design

  • Page Object Model

  • Fail Fast – Small incremental independent tests

What we offer:

Working hours – Full time. Permanent.

Salary - Details aviailable on request, dependant on skills and experience.

Location – Hybrid – A mixture of home working, at our head office in Coventry and at customer sites.

Travel (limited) – You may be required to spend time on client sites and in our US Cincinnati office on occassion. This role has some direct reports based in the US and supports US clients.
