To help us meet our goals, we are seeking an Upstream Research Assistant (I or II) to join our Bioprocess Development Team. As part of this dynamic team you will work with upstream process development scientists to generate critical data of fermentation and primary recovery scale down experiments for performance enzymes. Initially you will perform analytical assays to characterize upstream processes and progress to participating in process development experiments to improve performance and robustness of manufacturing processes.

In this role you will be responsible for:
Characterizing in upstream-process samples to drive process development decisions for performance enzyme products, including protein quantification using SDS-PAGE, fermentation metabolite analysis and enzyme activity using colorimetric or HPLC-based assays.
Troubleshoot and adapt analytical methods to quantify yield, activity, and purity at various stages of the manufacturing process.
Participate in process development experiments to improve fermentation and primary recovery yield and product quality
Documenting and summarizing results in a timely fashion. Regularly presenting results in project team meetings.
Creating and maintaining various data and sample logs.
Archiving process samples and maintaining analytical instruments.
To be successful in this role, your background and experience should include:
Education: Bachelor?s degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Biological Science, or related discipline, with 0-2 years? experience analyzing proteins
Experience in unit operations such as bioreactor, homogenization and TFF a plus
Ability to multi-task and remain flexible with changing needs.
Must be motivated and able to work under tight deadlines.
Ability to keep organized records and documentation, and to write reports and SOPs.
