Northrop Grumman Computer Systems Architect/Principal Computer Systems Architect in Redondo Beach, California

Northrop Grumman Space Systems has an opening for the next qualified Computer Systems Architect, or Principal Computer Systems Architect. The selected candidate will join the Special Test Equipment Engineering (STEE) team based in Redondo Beach, CA. The ideal candidate has experience as a DevOps System Administrator with familiarity in Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) with a desire to work in infrastructure as code.

The candidate will support building up a virtualized System Integration Lab for the Northrop Grumman Polar program. While we are looking for a candidate with software tool and system administration experience, it is equally important to us that the candidate is enthusiastic about learning, has an agile mindset and is willing to embrace new technologies..

The Northrop Grumman Polar software development is heavily influenced by the methodologies being laid out in the DoD Enterprise DevSecOps Initiative (DSOP) so developing with an eye at adopting standard tool sets and automate and develop efficiencies in the software environment is desirable.

The candidate should have understanding of the software development lifecycle experience. Preferred candidate should have some system integration experience and/or understanding of software quality production methods. Strong communication skills are a must as the candidate will be interfacing with different stakeholders on the program and company and customer support functions such as cybersecurity and enterprise information technology support.

Candidate is expected to display solid skills in LINUX system administration and some experience in virtualization and containerization (Kubernetes). They should be familiar with Cloud platforms such as Amazon AWS. They should have a working knowledge of software languages (C++, Javascript, or any modern object-oriented language (java, C#). They will be expected to work with the build tools build tools (i.e., cmake, maven) and continuous integration environments (i.e., Jenkins, Gitlab CI).

The applicant will be expected to support a variety of diverse, dynamic environments. On call, 24/7 pager support during critical phases of testing, contingency operations and off-site may be required. Job also requires candidate to be able to perform racking and cabling systems, preferably in an engineering or production environment.

Qualifications:

This requisition may be filled at either a level 2 or a level 3 (Principal).

Basic Qualifications:

  • Level 2: Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of Computer Systems experience; or a Master's degree with 0+ years of experience

  • Level 3: Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of Computer Systems experience; or a Master's degree and 3+ years of Computer Systems experience; or a PhD. degree with 0+ years experience

  • 4+ additional years of Computer Systems experience maybe considered in lieu of a degree

  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Secret/Top Secret/SCI security clearance

  • Previous System administration experience in LINUX system administration

  • Experience working in installing, configuring, maintain and optimizing server architecture and services on physical and/or virtual systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance

  • Meets DOD IAT requirements for security certs or be in the process of obtaining one (i.e. Security+ certification)

  • Familiarity in DevOps tools and practices - Configuration Management

  • Experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6 / 7 servers, Centos OS and Ubuntu/Debian. Certification is preferred

  • Experience with VMWare infrastructure and automation. Certification is preferred

  • Familiar and/or some experience with the Hashicorp tool suite (Terraform, Vault, Packer, Nexus)

  • Familiar and/or some experience with Atlassian tools (Confluence, JIRA, Crucible)

  • Familiar and/or some experience in developing with a build orchestrator such as Jenkins

  • Familiar and/or some experience to automate software builds and releases via Nexus

  • Experience with automation/configuration management using either Ansible, Terraform, Vault and Nexus

  • Experience in containerization technologies including Docker and Kubernetes
