Microsoft Corporation Software Engineer II in Redmond, Washington

Our team owns Azure Data Share, a key pillar for providing a seamless Data Sharing experience between enterprise customers on the Azure Data Platform. This is a highly scalable, cross-tenant service that solves a significant business need that we clearly hear about from many of our largest customers on the data platform. We are developing and maintaining a rich new User Experience, backed by a full set of REST API’s, and integrating the whole thing with the Azure stack (Resource Management, Portal, SDK, PowerShell, etc..) for a top notch customer experience.

You understand that user experience and service manageability for enterprise customers is more than just having a flashy UI, and you have experience in delivering scalable, cross-platform experiences with the latest web service technologies to provide rich capabilities to help customers and developers do more with their data at a very large scale.

We have released Azure Data Share recently and are expanding it and integrating it with other critical Azure data products to provide our data customers with a unified experience to manage and govern their data.

We are looking for talented Engineers who have a diverse set of skills, especially in developing UX frameworks, SDK’s, and RESTful services. If you have worked with UX technologies like React, Angular, Redux, Javascript/Typescript and SPA’s, in addition to the rest of the web service stack, then you may be the person we are looking for to help us expand Azure Data Share’s sharing capabilities and integrations.

Responsibilities

Everyone on the team owns significant areas and delivers high business impact towards the vision, direction, implementation, and ultimately the success of our products. We are a low overhead team that operates scrum style, and ships on a fast cadence. We are evolving quickly through the service beyond General Availability into a mature service. You will collaborate on and negotiate your designs across the engineering team and work closely with our PM partners to design, build and maintain a high quality code base for our user experience. You will also have the chance to work with sister teams to implement their user experiences and ensure all our products are coherent.

Qualifications

Required Experience:

  • 3+ years of professional software development experience, shipping external customer facing services or applications

  • 3+ years of C#, C++, TypeScript or other object-oriented development experience

  • 3+ years of experience with developing scalable RESTful web services

  • Passion for learning new things and take on new challenges

  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Mathematics/Physics, or Engineering.

Preferred Experience:

  • 3+ years of professional experience with UX development technologies (React, Angular, JS/TS/, Redux, or other relevant languages)

  • Previous experience developing SDK’s or other client tools

  • Previous development experience with Powershell cmdlets

  • Previous delivery of experiences through Azure Portal (aka: Ibiza)
