We are looking for an experienced Lab Technician to perform various duties and activities within a busy hardware engineering lab. You will have the following responsibilities:
Lab Management - perform lab management tasks with guidance from engineers, other technicians, and your manager, ensuring close collaboration with all lab users;
Lab Testing - perform and support engineering assessment and design optimization various features across multiple device types, including assembly and breakdown of hardware;
Lab Tools - determine with guidance from engineers whether current testing tools are suitable for collecting and processing data, and assist in validating test equipment is operating within expected parameters.
Lab Safety - participate in lab safety and regulatory training, and maintain awareness of and follow safety and fire codes;
Continuous Improvement - provide input on ways to expand lab capabilities and efficiency; make suggestions for new equipment and/or processes.
Lab Maintenance – manage, track, and perform general lab maintenance, upkeep and inventory.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
PCBA soldering and rework – experience and demonstrated ability to rework electronic components under a microscope, and rework devices at the system level to modify configurations for testing and/or hardware development purposes.
ESD - knowledge of electro-static discharge prevention procedures.
Electronic Diagnostic – experience with electronic diagnostic tools & equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, multimeters) to measure and detect problems with hardware and components within consumer-electronic devices.
Lab Equipment Maintenance – experience managing and tracking lab equipment calibration, repair, upgrade and usage in an engineering lab.
Process Documentation – experience and ability to create documentation used for engineering evaluation of electronic devices
3+ years of technical experience OR Associate's degree in Engineering or a related field + 1 year of technical experience;
1+ year of experience working with engineers in a lab environment;
Demonstrated ability to solder fine-pitch SMT components on a PCB under a microscope;
Strong collaboration skills and a support mindset.
