VCA Cordova Veterinary Hospital is a small animal practice in Rancho Cordova, California.
VCA Cordova Veterinary Hospital is looking for an experienced anesthesia tech to join our growing team. This position would work closely with both dentistry and surgical cases.
This is an excellent opportunity to use your technician skills, work with a dynamic, highly-skilled team, and expand your knowledge in dentistry. You will be challenged to grow and learn with a team that will fully support you along the way! The ideal candidate will be a team player who is a friendly, dependable, positive multi-tasker with excellent communication and client service skills and strong emotional intelligence. Prior experience in surgery, anesthesia, and advanced nursing care is required for this position. Experienced technicians are asked to think analytically through patient needs and the disease process in order to deliver the highest quality care. This positions’ main duty is to provide anesthesia technical support to all services. This includes creating anesthetic protocols, inducing, monitoring, maintaining, and recovering anesthetized animals daily. This position is perfect for the qualified individual that would like to expand their anesthesia knowledge and skill set and assume increased patient management responsibility.
Minimum qualifications: • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a veterinary technician (comfort with independently managing anesthetic cases will be very beneficial) • Skills to induce and monitor anesthesia • Ability to recognize patient’s current condition, which can change on a moment-to-moment basis during anesthesia • Ability to calculate drug doses and administer medications intravenously, subcutaneously, intramuscularly, and/or orally • Experience with anesthetic delivery, support, and monitoring equipment • Experience with running CRIs and a ventilator • Experience with responding to emergencies and providing CPR Preferred Qualifications: • Valid California Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) • Experience collecting and interpreting physiological data • Ability to use standard laboratory equipment • Knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, common diseases, and common surgical procedures • Understanding and experience with routine repair and maintaining anesthesia related equipment
