RedHat Data Privacy Compliance Specialist in Raleigh, North Carolina

The Red Hat Information Technology (IT) is looking for a Data Privacy Compliance Specialist to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will help meet the demands of our fast-paced and rapidly growing environment and evolving government regulations in the area of data privacy and security. You’ll work closely with business partners in our Legal team and other Red Hat’s teams to deliver our Global Data Privacy Program. Reporting to the senior manager of the Global Privacy team, you will collaborate closely with the Information Security, Assurance, and the broader IT teams. As a Data Privacy Compliance Specialist, you will help carry out and evolve our data privacy strategy, with your responsibilities including documenting enterprise use cases, evaluating and recommending protection strategies and solutions, performing audits and assessments of compliance, consulting with business partners on new solutions to implement Privacy by Design, and other tactical activities necessary to implement and maintain Red Hat’s data privacy compliance framework.

What you will do

  • Conduct, review, and document privacy impact assessments (PIAs) and data protection impact assessments (DPIAs) based on a variety of standards

  • Assist with internal and external audits to support the Global Privacy Program

  • Work with multiple teams to mitigate and eliminate privacy risk and vulnerabilities and to improve adherence with global privacy laws

  • Develop remediation and corrective action plans as driven by audit results

  • Perform summary reporting on privacy program status and metrics on a recurring basis

  • Deliver data privacy awareness training, including preparation of educational materials and other supporting documentation

  • Participate in audits of vendors and contractors to ensure compliance with privacy regulations and corporate standards

  • Partner with privacy leaders and the Legal team to review global privacy laws, regulations, and emerging risks and determine applicability to Red Hat

  • Participate and assist with security and privacy incidents, including handling, processing, response, and reporting

  • Support ongoing legal obligations and operational responsibilities related to data privacy including data subject requests and other required data privacy filings and registrations in conjunction with the Legal team

  • Work with teams addressing complex compliance and risk management challenges relating to data privacy, including the responsible use, lawful collection, sharing, and deletion of personal information and developing appropriate controls and implementation plans to ensure compliance

  • Monitor and prepare reports on global regulatory developments in conjunction with the Legal team

  • Partner with privacy technology vendors, e.g., TrustArc, OneTrust, and ServiceNow, to improvize personal data inventory and privacy assessment solutions

  • Champion and advocate for the importance of data privacy compliance and adherence throughout the organization

  • Provide guidance and subject matter expertise in the data privacy space by sharing best practices and recommendations with internal stakeholders

What you will bring

  • Solid written and verbal communication skills across all levels of the organization and customer base, including up to the senior executive level

  • Ability to construct well-founded, clear, and concise analyses and recommendations

  • Solid attention to detail and analytical skills

  • Demonstrated experience working with privacy, risk, or compliance in a global organization

  • Passion for handling complex information, solving problems, and managing multiple tasks across disparate organizations and the entire Red Hat enterprise

  • Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships and credibility as a subject matter expert

  • Good reputation for integrity and ethics

  • Proficiency with privacy regulations, including General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), General Personal Data Protection Law (LGPD), etc., and frameworks, including Generally Accepted Privacy Principles (GAPP), Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS), and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)

  • Understanding of risk management and the ability to test and validate controls within the business

The following are considered a plus:

  • Professional privacy or security certifications like Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIP; A/C/E/US), Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM), Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), etc.

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in business, information technology (IT), cybersecurity, or a related field

  • Understanding of Red Hat’s business model
