Position Description :

Provides supportive nursing care to selected patients under direction and supervision of the professional nurse; facilitates patient care by meeting specific nursing care requirements and assists in performance of patient care measures; informs the registered nurse of any signs, symptoms of untoward responses.

Minimum Requirements :

H.S. Diploma or GED Required

Possess two years of continuous recent surgical technologist experience Required.

Graduate of a Surgical Technologist training program or practical nurse program Required.

Should have no performance management issues within the last year Required.


Successful completion of a Surgical Technologist program sponsored by an entity holding nationally recognized institutional or programmatic accreditation and hold and maintains a ST certification from an accredited certification program Required.

Required Skills and Abilities:

COMMUNICATION: Possess the ability to communicate technical information and ideas

to effectively present information and respond to questions from others

Speaking and listening for communicating with patients, nurses, doctors, families and visitors.

Must be a self-starter; able to work quickly and efficiently without constant direction.

Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients in his/her assigned area.

Visual acuity for accurate reading of gauges, thermometers, set sheets, and examination of instruments for proper functioning.

The incumbent must be aware of the proper handling and use of all equipment and supplies.

Ability to maintain information in a confidential manner in accordance with all regulatory requirements.

Demonstrated time management and priority setting skills.
