We are currently seeking an LED Technician to bolster an already strong team! In this role you will be self-motivated, hands-on technician with experience in electronics to support the development and testing of LED-based lighting products. Central focus will be assembling, soldering, and testing LED boards in addition to special test requests. This position will work within cross functional groups consisting of electrical, mechanical, optical and manufacturing members to assemble, test and qualify electrical components as well as complete LED fixtures. A successful candidate will be a resourceful problem solver who is able to work around technical obstacles and will be adept at the implementation of practical solutions.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Driver programming (Will be trained if not familiar)

  • LED board builds (SMT Soldering)

  • Assemble prototype circuit boards consisting of surface-mount and through-hole components

  • Assemble and test LED boards

  • Conduct QP and prototype builds

  • Breakdown efficiency testing

  • Flicker Testing

  • Special test requests

  • Photometry- sphere 2M, 3M (Will assist qualified personnel)

  • Familiarity with clean room protocols

  • Keyence operation

  • Thermocouple placing, running thermal tests

  • Capture oscilloscope waveforms, make power and efficiency measurements, gather additional data and provide clear, concise reports for review.

  • Tuning procedures

  • Familiarity with following 6S protocol and guidelines

  • Complete tasks in creative and effective ways with minimal guidance and oversight

  • Work across company functional organizations to ensure project success

  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (What you need for success):

  • EET or AS degree Preferred or equivalent training in Electrical Engineering or other related technical field

  • 2-3 years experience in power and analog electronics with working knowledge of component testing, and qualification testing of electronics

  • 2-3 years SMT and through-hole soldering

  • Background in LED lighting and power supply preferred

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

  • Proficient with MS Office tools including Excel and Word or equivalents

  • Ability to work independently and be self-sufficient while knowing when to ask for help

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to troubleshoot analog and digital circuits with equipment such as; oscilloscopes, power meters, AC and DC power supplies and multimeters

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Sit at a computer or desk for extended periods of time

  • Stand for long periods of time, up to 4 continuous hours and up to 8 – 12 hours during a shift

  • Frequent walking through the department/building

  • Use hands/arms to operate required equipment and repetitive motion activities

  • Lift objects up to 50 pounds with or without assistance

  • Bend, stoop or crouch while performing daily activities of the job

  • Operate power equipment

  • Effective verbal and written communications skills

  • Ability to work in a noisy environment

  • Ability to work in an environment with fluctuating temperature
