Nuance Application Support Engineer in Pune, India

The Application Support Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that our applications are defect free, reliable, and high performing. This includes investigating internally generated (either internal staff or internal tools) and external customer generated defect reports and incidents, proposing and executing fixes, performing root cause analysis of how defects and performance issues were introduced to production, corrective action implementation, and analysis and knowledge sharing with engineering groups. Management of reported defects through to resolution will also be a key responsibility. The application support engineer will also engineer and implement systems for detecting performance issues and defects within the applications that can be investigated.

Principal duties and responsibilities –

  • Investigate internally and externally reported defects, and incidents

  • Propose and implement fixes for confirmed defects including App Support engineer authored software changes for some tickets

  • Investigate root cause for how the defects and performance problems bypassed our SDLC controls and made it into prod

  • Manage and/or implement corrective action with other engineering groups to ensure performance issues and defects are found before they make it into production

  • Build and improve tools to measure application performance, analyze trends, and uncover difficult to detect defects in the applications

  • Build and improve visibility tools to provide information about the performance of the applications to management

  • Investigate defect induced incidents and help mitigate impact

Knowledge, skills and qualifications –

  • Education: BS in Computer Science, Mathematics, Systems Engineering, IT Systems or commensurate experience (+4 years)

  • Minimum years of work experience: 5-6

  • Required skills: JavaScript, Linux, Bash

  • Preferred skills: Java, SRE, APM, Other scripting or programming languages
