Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories Materials Clerk in Pullman, Washington

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is looking for individuals who are professional, organized and dedicated to serving customers to join us in the Materials Clerk position. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Receive, process paperwork, and deliver freight receipts daily; reconcile discrepancies with Purchasing, as required.

Receive, distribute, and post mail, as required.

File loss/damage claims with carriers.

Perform inventory cycle counts and provide other area support as required.

Keep accurate and up-to-date records.

Recycle or dispose of scrap manufacturing materials.

Prepare shipping containers in accordance with SEL standards; coordinate pick up and drop off with carriers.

Perform vehicle and other power industrial truck inspections, ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of vehicles, equipment and supplies.

Coordinate pick up and drop off with different SEL departments and/or off- site customers using company vehicles, as required.

Continuously identify, measure, follow, and improve area processes.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Ability to maintain high standards for cleanliness, organization, and accuracy in all department areas and functions

Strong data entry, proofreading, and filing skills

Ability to frequently lift 40 pounds

Knowledge of packing materials and shipping requirements

Ability to follow established work schedule and procedures

Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills

Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities

Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment

Adhere to SEL's tobacco-free policy

Background check results satisfactory to SEL

Compliance with heightened periodic drug testing for operators of SEL vehicles

Negative drug test result(s)

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in forklift truck operation

Commercial driver's license
