The project manager will be responsible for the planning, coordination, and status reporting of projects from initiation to implementation that support the technical training of security resources across the Technology Risk and Information Security (TRIS) organization. The project manager will play a vital role in supporting the technical skills development of our TRIS colleagues and work with the training team to develop successful training programs. Through collaborating and partnering with our broader team and key stakeholders, the successful candidate will provide career training direction for our TRIS teams at the right point in their careers to ensure they are successful in their roles of supporting the security controls and risk management posture of American Express.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with internal customers to establish and interpret project/program objectives into solutions and provide regular program status updates

  • Support the design, development, and review of training paths and associated content

  • Write instructional materials (e.g., standard operating procedures, production manual) to provide detailed guidance in relation to training programs and associated content for colleagues.

  • Identify and track key project achievements

  • Research current technology and training resources to understand capabilities that can be utilized to support growth and development

  • Gather feedback on colleague and stakeholder satisfaction and internal service performance to foster continual improvement

  • Participate in development of training curriculum and course content

  • Conduct periodic reviews/revisions of course content for accuracy, completeness alignment, and currency

  • Prepare materials (reports, presentations, spreadsheets, etc) on information security to help develop training and to enable informed decision-making; verify completeness, accuracy and relevance of data captured

  • Prepare status reports on technology risk and information security, or other matters to help develop, track, monitor and report on projects and initiatives

  • Maintain internal documentation library, ensuring that process and other documentation is regularly updated to reflect the latest operational processes and requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of training and experience

  • Prior relevant Technology, talent development, training, or business work experience

  • Experience managing multidisciplinary projects, cross-functional projects, or programs

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, being able to interact and communicate complex ideas across all levels of audience, presentation creation, facilitation, written and verbal

  • Strong analytics experience with ability to draw conclusions and make inferences and recommend optimization

  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders and building strong relationships

  • Outstanding at problem-solving and project management capabilities

  • Self-starter with high level of accountability and the ability to thrive in ambiguous, open-ended challenges

  • Ability to use business and technical experience to identify impacts or risks and build plans to mitigate them
