Educational Testing Service Director Safety Security & Environmental Management in Princeton, New Jersey

Job Descriptions:

Directs, develops, manages and implements all physical security policies and programs designed to

increase the effectiveness of ETS Corporate Security, mitigating the company’s exposure to loss and

liability. Develop innovative security strategies for the organization, manage and contract security staff

and direct all security investigations. Directs investigations regarding criminal activities, security

incidents & corporate policy violations.

Establishes and coordinates all security, safety and environmental management operations with local,

state and federal law, environmental and emergency response organizations. Directs the management

and control of safety activities of the Office of Safety and Environmental Management including the

development and implementation of corporate safety and environmental training programs; assuring

compliance with federal, state and local policies and procedures in the areas of safety and

environmental regulation and standards.

  1. Develop Corporate Security standards, policies and procedures.

  2. Direct organizational Physical Security risk assessments to ensure a safe and secure work

environment.

  1. Establish long and short-term safety and environmental departmental goals and objectives in

conjunction with divisional planning. Establish safety and environmental action plans to meet

the established goals and objectives.

  1. Manage Security contract, security officers at headquarters facility and supporting field office

locations, and the 24x7 Security Command Center.

  1. Direct the development, maintaining, coordination, and updating of environmental and safety

operating standards as they are related to federal, state and local regulations/standards and

applicable ETS standards.

  1. Direct all internal investigations related to criminal activities, security incidents and employee

policy violations.

  1. Serve as main contact for external (police managed) investigations involving the above issues.

  2. Develop, coordinate and manage security training and awareness programs.

  3. Develop and implement Security Incident tracking and analysis reporting process for trend

analysis and organization liability.

  1. Measure Security performance to established objectives and expected service levels.

  2. Interact with the General Counsel’s Office and provide advice to senior management on all

critical security issues.

  1. Develop liaison with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to ensure support for ETS when required.

  2. Maintain membership to the Greater Princeton Security Association, to partner with local security directors on security issues that may impact ETS or local business operations.

  3. Direct the development, coordination, maintaining, and updating emergency, disaster recovery, fire planning and recovery plans/processes to assure availability and reliability of services to the corporation.

  4. Direct the development and implementation plans for the evacuation of buildings under emergency conditions.

  5. Direct the development, coordination and implementation procedures for the investigation of accidents, incidents and reporting of safety and environmental related matters.

  6. Direct the development, coordination and implementation and manage the effective accomplishment of safety and environmental activities throughout the corporation to ensure the safety of ETS, the corporation, its employees, clients and visitors. Work with ETS staff, as well as contractors, clients and consultants to conduct inspections, investigation and analyses to ensure that federal, state, and local policies, procedures, standards and regulations are being utilized and followed during working actions while on ETS premises and in ETS buildings.

  7. Interact with ETS officers, division directors, managers, supervisors and others to plan, coordinate and resolve problems related to specific safety and environmental concerns.

  8. Represent ETS to federal, state, local and public agencies and officials. Act as a resource person for matters of environmental and safety concerns.

  9. Represent the Corporate Security, Safety & Environmental Management Department with area management personnel, ETS and committees, business units, and special interest groups. Interact with division directors, system managers, other managers and supervisors, and clients to coordinate activities and resolve problems.

  10. Provide managerial Law enforcement and security leadership to staff and outsourced security team.

  11. Coordinate impending employee layoffs, job eliminations, and potential hostile terminations.

  12. Develop and participate in Crisis Incident Planning and table top exercises.

  13. Coordinate the selection process of outside security services utilized.

  14. Coordinate the installation and maintenance of security related electronic systems.

  15. Adhere to ethical standards and comply with the laws and regulations applicable to your job function.

Required Experience:

Knowledge of federal, state and local security, safety and/or environmental regulation in order to ensure ETS compliance with standards and regulations.

Ability to manage, coordinate and monitor the security, safety and/or environmental activities of ETS. Ability to make recommendations, acquisitions and maintain requirements of safety and environmental concerns.

Skill and professional and interpersonal communication sufficient for interaction with internal staff and external clients to provide for management of potential and actual hazards.

Ability to supervise planning, operation and testing of fire suppression systems, fire extinguishers and other fire prevention and detection equipment; and supervise and train staff in safety and/or environmental related subject.

Ability to make recommendations for training, acquisition of contractors, consultants and agency personnel to install, maintain, build, correct or perform repairs on ETS grounds, buildings and premises.

Skill and ability to coordinate disaster recovery plans in cooperation with officers and line management.

Skill and ability to conduct environmental and safety inspections to identify potential problems.

A Bachelor's degree, preferably in law enforcement, safety, health and/or environmental sciences or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary.

Graduate level studies in Police Administration or Security Management preferred.

ASIS/CPP Board Certification in Security Management and Professional Investigations preferred.

Minimum 10 years experience in physical security, law enforcement or military, as a supervisor or manager.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interface with employees and senior management.

Affiliation with Security associations for the purpose of networking.

Must be adaptable to change and accept additional responsibilities

Ability to influence change diplomatically within and established organizational culture.
