Sodexo General Manager 4 - Catering in POWELL, Ohio

Sodexo's Leisure Segment has an exciting opening for a General Manager who will oversee the Catering and Special Events services at The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium in Powell, OH. This General Manager will oversee the planning and execution of catered events ranging from corporate picnics, fundraisers, business functions to upscale weddings and more. Assisted by a Catering Manager and Executive Chef, the team will hire, train and schedule staff, plan and execute multiple events year round (with a busy season in spring through fall). There are multiple unique catering event locations that can service up to 10K guests.

We are seeking an experienced General Manager with excellent catering management and presentation skills, the ability to work timely with all client and customer requests, and a strong operator who can lead teams and exceed guest expectations.

The successful candidate will:

  • have a food service management background with a focus on catering in a leisure location, conference center or similar large-volume contract dining account;

  • develop strategic plans;

  • have oversight of day to day operations;

  • identify customer needs and expectations;

  • ensure that Sodexo and customer goals are aligned and met;

  • educate and develop rapport with clients and promote partnerships;

  • promote a customer/client centered culture that strives to exceed customer and client needs;

  • coordinate all unit catering initiatives to drive sales growth and track results.

  • maintain and improve service level resulting in increased customer satisfaction;

  • ensure all HAACP standards are followed; and/or

  • demonstrate resourcefulness and quick responsiveness to client and customer requests.

Position Summary

Directs all contract management service operations at a single account/unit. Plans and supervises special functions. Maintains cash control and payroll records. Hires and trains unit personnel. Maintains customer satisfaction and good public relations. Manages through managers and is accountable for the contract. Senior-most person assigned to a one client account.

Provides local leadership and strategic direction while developing team for new and emerging business solutions that sustain growth in the day to day operations.

Basic Education Requirement - Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
