The Columbus Zoological Park Association Cabana Server in Powell, Ohio
A day in the life of a cabana server begins well before park opening, washing down lounge chairs and putting the finishing touches on our cabanas to prepare for the arrival of our guests. Once the gates open and our cabana guests check in, our cabana servers act as their VIP hosts for the day, providing food and beverage service as well as acting as park ambassadors, interacting with guests of all ages and answering questions about the park and its attractions. Some of our cabana servers also act as food runners, working in a centralized location to assemble orders and delivering them to our cabana guests in a timely manner. Working as a cabana server is all about team work as a single cabana may host up to 15 guests and filling a large order may require a parade of servers to deliver hot food and cold beverages to our hungry guests. In a typical 10.5 hour shift, our cabana servers may walk as many as 7-10 miles, making this position ideal for those who enjoy working outdoors and are looking for a great way to stay active this summer!
